Someone just told me about a guy in Kentucky or Kansas or somewhere who in a desperate bid to get away from his wife, robbed a bank.
He waited in the lobby until the police got there and tapped one on the shoulder, saying "I'm the guy you're looking for."
His sentence? 6 months house arrest.
So to what lengths would you go to get away from your date?

Last year my exhusband said he wanted us to get burial plots together. Apart while alive but together in death

I'm not sure I understood this. He tried to rob the bank so he could be jailed and get away from his wife or he needed money for the divorce?

Get one and be buried on top of each other. Very romantic and cost effective.

He robbed the bank hoping to be convicted and sent to prison and thus, away from his wife. I guess it never occurred to him that he could have taken the money and used it for a lawyer!

I'll admit I have tried that once or twice. I always feel bad about it too. I guess honesty is the best policy, saves time too.

Yes. It was his wife.
It's actually kind of a sad story, if you read the article. He's been depressed since heart surgery and it's made him irritable. I guess it's a side effect of the meds? He had an argument with his wife and told her he'd rather be in prison than home with her. So he went, robbed the bank, and waited for police. The judge showed leniency, the bank president and the teller advocated for it, too, and he was remorseful so he got house arrest rather than up to 37 months in jail.
You're right, Wing. It does save time and it's easier. Plus you can get found out when you lie.

WHAT A DOPE! Instead of getting away from her he has to spend 6 months sitting at home with her. No work release for him so he may as well start in on that "honey do" list!! Will his mother-in-law move in to act as his warden? GEEZ GUY! Just see a lawyer and get a divorce like normal people. Needless to say this guy is not the brightest bulb on the tree! It was needless to say, but I said it anyhow.
Somebody in here said once that his first date was turning into a real disaster so he slipped someone in the kitchen a twenty and he snuck out the back door. I've never had a first date that bad. I've always just sucked it up (What's one miserable night in your life, huh?) and never asked for another date out of fear she'd say yes.

Heard something about this on Garage Logic News, Olaf. I think it's real, but he's not the brightest bulb on the tree. If he wanted to go to prison he should have given someone a non life threatening wound.

It doesn't sound like he's exactly a MENSA candidate. He'll probably try to break the house arrest by drinking turpentine so he can go to a hospital. Or a morgue...

If he breaks house arrest, they will increase his sentence. Sometimes the house arrest is tougher than the time.

That's kind of ironic...he gets to spend more time at home now with the wife he was trying to get away from.....
I dunno I would just tell the truth...and in this case I would have just moved out and got a divorce....

That's what it sounds like, that it was a side effect from the drugs he was on after his heart surgery.
At least the irritability and out of character reactions.

I never acted like that after my heart surgery and I had the triple bypass and am on plenty of drugs even today. Well 4 to be exact, but it's more than I was on before. Does it say what he was on?

I thought one of the articles I read said what his medications were, but I didn't find it again.
This is from one of the articles:
"He suffered from depression after undergoing a quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2015, Ramsey said. The depression remained undiagnosed and manifested as irritability, so Ripple didn’t think to report his symptoms to a doctor."
