sound effects of tennis
by josephfromabove at 9/9/2012 7:46:17 PM

I just watched Serena Williams beat Victoria Azalenko in the Women's US tennis open match. Azalenko kept letting out a loud sigh I guess you would call it for each swing of the racket. I remember when it was illegal to do that, that noise was unecessary, and considered a distraction to your oponent, besides that it sounds like crap. Anyway Serena won the second set, and in the third she was down 5 to 4, and I was thinking of our country getting whipped in the open products production market, and Serena looked like Lady Liberty in the New York Harbor, then she came back, and won without all the sound effects. I did notice Azalenko was running Serena badly all around the court and Serena kept returning it to her, I kept thinking you must cross court it, and run little miss sound effects all over like she is doing to you, then she started doing just that, and had some awesome power strokes too. That is what America needs, is a definite plan, and confuse the competition, and power strokes. Serena had 13 aces on her serves, Azalenko did not have one. We need some aces on China soon. Chrysler was one, but Fiat a foreign company bought into it, so that was only half a stroke, because some of the money is still going overseas.

Dont know much about tennis but I have heard them huffing and puffing out there. I thought it was sort of like those Karate guys who make those loud noises when they break boards in half....

Joseph, that has already come to pass....I recall with surprise years ago when the owners of a huge hotel in FL were coming to look over their "property", Hotel and Golf Course, they were coming from China...and then there was that scandal about the tires blowing out and killing drivers on the Ford Explorers, Firestone tires, turns out Firestone is a chinese company..To say nothing of Walmart and just about any other "Large Box Store" the shelves would be empty....We are wholly entrenched with chinese products and chinese landlords....its over...aren't you glad you are not 25...

We have looked away and pouted too long now, I still buy American made products whenever possible, and if everyone would, then there would have more jobs, so it is not just a politcal problem it is a matter of simple economics, and complacency will only aid China. When I was 25 I was a UAW commiteeman, safety man, Sargent of Arms, and chairman of the anti-discrimination, and fair practices commitee of a local of the union, and had 463 men and women to over see, and I also had to do my job as a Welder-assembler class A. Every local negotiates their contrtact, and I worked like the rest, and across the state line at the Mack truck plant the union people only did union issues. So if all of the locals were like the one I was in the unions would not of been a stumbling block in our econmy as they were. The flor sweepers at the Mack plant made as much as I did as a welder-assembler class A I had 18 different certifications inder the boilermakers code ASME section 8 also a visual examiner under ASME section 11, the company I was with manufactured pressure vessels for chemistry, and ammonia refrigeration. and a broom pusher was making more at Mack. You had to kiss butt big time to get in there, and I don't syncopate to no one elses style but my own. I got the expertise I was wanting and I learned exactly what a union was all about from the inside. So I handled lay-offs hiring , firings and I know the crap people dish out to cover their behinds, and I think this electiion I don't just need waders and a coal shovel, but a Cat D-12 bulldozer might help some.

It's actually not illegal to do it when you hit the ball. It's illegal to do it once the ball has crossed the net. Once it crosses the net, you can't make any sound or you lose the point.

Actually, I'm partly wrong - it's illegal to make any sound after you have hit the ball, even if it is has not yet crossed the net.

I remember my tennis coach telling me that during drills because I would always yell at myself after I mishit (actual or perceived) the ball.

It was illegal to make sounds at all when I played tennis years ago, it was considered underhanded tactics to upset your opponents swing. The only sound you heard from me was the ball zinging past your head and going through the chain link fence. I bent aluminum rackets on slams, and Davis Imperials I shattered at the slender neck with serves and slams. I would always get them replaced because they were guaranteed, and the shop keeper sent a spy to watch me play and do it, he said I was hitting them on something, and I always said then where is the impact marks then.

The shop keeper said I was hitting them first, then he sent an observer to watch, and verify I was telling the truth, what they didn't know is I perfected my swing with practicing with a 16 foot bull whip, and the movement on a serve is just like hitting a target in front of you with the whip. So I had a focal point to concentrate on.
