Injin POEMS & 49 Songs
by unctana at 2/16/2009 3:53:40 PM

I miss the PowWows and the "49" ing
...... I miss the DRUMs and all night SINGING
The SOCIALS with their SMOKE DANCE beat
...... Achaking legs and so sore feet
Songs of OLD, origins now lost in TIME
...... Ancesters past, ALL were BLOOD-KIN of MINE
My HIDE and HAIR, my "Anglo" LOOKs
...... Aren't like their IDEAS from the books
WRITTEN by NON-INJINS who spoke LITTLE "TRUE-TRUTH"
...... at the best of times in their youth
But with my RELATIVES I can DANCE and SING
...... JOY to my HEART, their smiles bring
We joke and laugh, share food and drink
...... And RESPECT what each other may think
AGREE, perhaps. But not always though
...... SOME may LOVE the falling snow
The howelling winds and frozen night
...... And yes, there are SOME who like to fight
But arround the DRUM; sage, sweet-grass burning
...... There's always SOME who are still LEARNING
How it WAS when MOTHER-EARTH was NEW
...... And each HUMAN KNEW what they were here to DO!

Empty, lonely hours
Another dreary day
What I wouldn't give
To go out somewhere and PLAY
A FRIEND to laugh and joke with
Someone whitty and FUN
Champagne brunch or picknick
Just sitting in the sun
A drive up on the Mesa
Or a strool on Main Street would do
Most anything at all you see
As lokg as I'm with YOU

I've sailes the sea, the land I roam
...... Yet nowhere yet have found a HOME
I've Journied days and weeks on end
...... I saught in forest and where the rivers bend
I've canoed on lakes, climbed mountaing high
...... Alone at night 'neith Stary Sky
Alone by day, Alone I cry
===================================================
Glorious sights and wonders have I seen
...... Alas also, People, shallow and mean
............ Yet my sences grow less and less keen
Generious, Kind and Helpful some were too
...... But what, Pray tell, must one MAN do
............To find a FRIEND, a WOMAN "TRUE"
To SHAR the laughter, FUN and LIFE
...... When never again will I "take" a "wife"
............ For the one I had cut like a knife
Ah, I've HAD, and LOST, so much wealth
...... Depleated too, my youth and health
............ Time has taken it's share by stealth
Yet hungar, yearn and desire do I
...... To "LIVE" again, befor I die
............ To LAUGH and SING, not sit and cry
===================================================
OLD Key West in days of youth
...... From there to Maine; now here's the truth
I've seen them ALL, walked and swum
...... Rode the Rails as well as my thumb
But those were days now long gone by
...... FEW still live to SING their songs and sigh
In ballads by a wanderer who
...... LIVED back then 'neith skys of Blue
Might be heard a tale of LIVE lived large
...... Horseback, or foot, even on a barge
By mountain meddow, babbling vrook
...... A wending way of LIFE I took
Supped with scollars and men of means swell
...... In mansions, hotels and on yhats as well
Been to war more than once, have I
...... And yes, LOST FRIENDS and did cry
Yet it's the JOY of LIFE I most recall each days
...... And wish again that I could PLAY
Tell a joke, share a smile or two
...... But with WHOM, perhaps with YOU?
