My Grandaughter Allyjah

To my granddaughter Allyjah
She looks at me wondering,
With her two year old eyes.
Who is this lady,
That smiles as she cries...
I long to reach out,
Hold her close to my heart.
But she clings to her Daddy,
And Mommy's not far!!!
"Allyjah, this is Grandma,
go give her a kiss."
But she shook her head "no",
It was too soon for this!!!
"It's alright, do not force her,
I'm a stranger to her still.
She'll warm up to me shortly,
I'm sure that she will...."
"She's so beautiful!" I said
To my son and his wife.
"Her eyes are the bluest
I've ever seen in my life!"
"And her hair is spun gold,
Like a ray from the sun.
That shines on her soul,
God Bless this little one..."
Well I was contented,
To get what I could.
I will get that darned kiss!!!
And I knew that I would....
So eventually with teasing,
And playing around.
She came to me freely,
My heart she had found...
"Allyjah, I love you!
My heart overflows...
You're precious, my granddaughter
Forever....Heaven knows....
