skin color
by psilocybinguy at 9/26/2010 3:28:48 AM

i always wonder if we were all the same color would we still have the same cultural differences? i would hope so because its weird thinking the color of our skin is what gives us our attitudes of indifference. things are way different than in 92-93 when i was in 7th grade as they were way different in the early 80s and 70s and so on.... does anyone have any ideas as to what kind of understanding everyone would need to have to be part of a time when we dont even think of skin color as something that forms some of our negative opinions towards the opposite color of skin?

Skin color does affect how and what we feel about something, it always has and most likely to continue no matter how far we think we've come. Totally stupid and ignorant in my book but I don't think for everyone. If we were all the same color our beliefs and ways of life I think would still be different because no two people can be alike to the point that they agree on everything. Eventually there would be something that would start the ball rollin other than skin color. Maybe the way someone walks, talks, eats. There would always something that society would put in the way of separating us and dividing us into groups even if we all had the same color of skin, eyes and hair. That's just the way it seems to be in this world. I am not predjudice by any means. But things change but somehow stay the same. rmc4763

I am a firm believer in education. No matter what skin tone a person has, their mind is what shines out, and differentiates them from other people.

I had a friend once, who emigrated here from Ireland...During the time of the "Troubles" in Derry. She told a very surprised me that she and her neighbors could tell a Catholic just by looking at them in their City. Catholics were discriminated against job wise, in marital choices, etc, etc,

There will never be a time when we all get along.... no matter what skin color you are. As our thoughs for different things has a lot 2 do with it. God made us all different maybe 2 see if we can expect different things. This might be a test we must pass before we die. Sure hope I pass it.

Woody Allen's movie, Ants should be a must for all social injustices or is that Utopia we're looking for? All kidding aside, The make up of a persons DNA will be the next injustices that the world population will protest about. Does 5678 have the code DNA xy10, if not can not associate with them !

I also believe there will never be a time people (as a whole) don't form opinions and prejudices toward others even among those who have the same skin color. There will always be cultural differences based on education, location, environment, tradition, etc.

i can tell you from my own experience with culture differences. i am german and my ex is american, and so many times when we would have a discussion how people view life in europe different in contrast to the USA, well got my answer always as "why dont you go back to your country", it took me many years to get the right answer back at him. we are all here from europe and learn or at least try to live together in harmony(if you can believe it) so why is so wrong to give my opinion because that how it all started here in the USA. and the color difference, did not grow up with any of these influences you had here, but my kids did, and i can hear when i listen to them that we are far from being all the same, but there were alot of improvements as history teaches us.prejudice will always excist, its just what we do with it.

People will always find a way to judge and persecute each other based on differences. Skin color is just easier because it's visible. You have to actually get to know someone before you can persecute them based on their beliefs. I was lucky enough to be raised in a home were skin color and race were never even brought to my attention as being different. I am so thankful for that now, I can't imagine how small my world would be with out the amazing people in it.

Well i believe it will never die descrimination will always exist in one form of another. because your gonna have people thinking They are better than other people in one way or another. and as long as society continues to shelter and uphold a certain view point you wont see growth. its funny cause at one point in the birth of humanity we were all the same skin complexion.

We all come from out of Africa, the "Cradle of Civilization. All races !

There is no white or black color race !

We are all just different shads of brown ! Some a little yellow, some lil red, others a lil pink, etc...

Have you ever seen a real WHITE PERSON ? White like a sheet of paper ? ??... Skin tone is only do to Geographic origin and DNA !

mr robnall i dont understand where why or how you got from my post that i would want everyone to be the same or have the same train of thought? nothing in my post suggests that.... i understand variety, and when it comes to skin color there seems to be an attitude from both sides no matter what race they are, all because of skin color... ive actually been searching this one topic and havent found much on it, but here in pennsylvania along the allegheny or monogahela river, scientists have found remains of a very small civilization that exsisted OVER 16000 years ago..... saying africa is the birth area of humans is still up for debate and always will be.... our continents acording to hard fact from science where all joined together as one giant land mass at one point named Pangea.... humans exsisted at this time and its arguable exactly where we poped up at. the area of africa was one of the first to show signs of an advanced civilization but doesn't support life originated from there... its all theory. we could have all started white and the smarter of us cavemen prolly realized that if they traveled south they might stay a bit more warm sparking a whole new color of skin because now they are in some good sun.... all a theory but when you look at the whole planet there was human life all over it recording events as others did incase your wondering about the 16000 year old civilization here in pa i found a link on it for yall to check out... pretty interesting stuff its cool to see everyone for the most part thinks the same but i view a lack in cultural opinion on this one.... if everyone is kind of thinking the same, toward attitude of cultural indifference and we are all made the same, with the same material, then there would have to be some sort of time when we next evolve to a level of consciousness that doesnt recognize cultural indiffernce as a form of unacceptance and predjudice?

here is that link i forgot to post.... http://www.newjerseynewsroom.com/science-updates/meadowcroft-rockshelter-in-pa-holds-evidence-of-civilization-16000-years-ago i found another couple links of civiliztions that existed about 16000 years ago also.... this by no means rules out that nobody made it to africa yet, but rather we just havne't found anything there that old yet. i heard the oldest peice of egyptian art is 15000 years old. we had to have been here 25000 years ago. thats almost to much to handle.... those links with the remains found in france were being argued at almost 20000 years old....

It's going to take a much higher intellect than we possess at this present time. A much greater understanding of unity and harmony and what it takes to achieve both. A much, much greater concern for the welfare of others, and less focus on the always important ME !!!!!!!
