US Post Office is bankrupt soon
by josephfromabove at 9/5/2011 8:40:33 PM

You heard it correctly, the USPS is going out of business if we don't do something about it. In the very least they are going to close 4000 small town post offices. They are going to default on 5 billion dollar debt soon, mostly retirement benefits. There is talk of the service ceasing altogether by this winter. I think it's time to stop pouring money into foreign countries who do not need us there, but are just using us for a money tree, like Afghanistan, and Iraq. These "wars" are breaking this country, just like the war USSR had with Afghanistan, the Afghan rebels just got a different patsy, us. Oh, and there is still 2 billion dollars of uncirculated presidential dollar coins being stored costing 54,000 dollars a month, and they are minting 38,500 a day by law that needs to be repealed at once. That's what I said 2 billion plus 38,500 a day minted by law.The pen is mighter than the sword, now prove it, write your congressperson, and senator today. Seems to be popular these days to declare holy war on the USA, and we'll rebuild you better than you were, and fill up coffers with USA dollars. They can have the minted ones for a loan, to pay back later, before we have to speak chinese as a national language.

Yes, alot of people are aware of this. Few people will write their congress people, because people don't understand the circumstances involved or are just to lazy. Until the bomb falls. Than everyone starts crying 'bloody murder.' Social security is also in trouble, but until people STOP getting their checks they aren't going to do anything. Pleasant dreams... Lexis

I agree with you that something definitely has to be done to save our posts offices, however I see it differently when it comes at the expense of our homeland security. Our troops need our support, and the support of our government. This is a nice blog though. Have a great night.

Homeland security is a honorable cause, but it has gone beyond that now, and they are nickel, and dimeing us to death on purpose. I have security clearance at Ft Bragg, and have talked to all types of troops, and the story you get on the news is not what I hear when I walk to the special operations people, like the special forces, or SOTF southern Operations Terorists Forces (Delta Forces by slang terms), so I do not speak from ignorance. I am all for security in the USA as long as we are not fighting ficticious terrorists that don't exist, and are just a money funnel to other covert ops.

boxopoprox-you make a nasty comment with your profile pic having a child in your arms. Not funny! Very immature......

i just find it ironic thats all. i used the qualifier "prototypical".

On your last point I do agree, my cousin was on the Delta Force, until they had their first child. It is a highly dangerous job for them. If it is under control, then the public needs to know what is going on. Will our congress listen? We can only hope so!

Your welcome mama, I'm here to say, that I had the fortune to receiving an email from this man, and he is a gentleman, and a highly intelligent man. Isn't it about time we treat eachother as adults, and not sling mud? I feel bad for these postal workers. They work hard every day just like everyone else on their jobs.

My post man works very hard! He has been out delivering mail til 8pm. They cant stop till all mail is delivered. He takes the time to talk and get to know his people. He also delivers the mail! I give them great credit. To have their pension monies spent is immoral. I am a state employee and it happened to our state. ***** I agree, we all have to be nice to one another. And may i point out that Jesus had long hair and a beard too! I dont mean that unintelligently. First thing this yutz felt he should comment on was his terrorist look? I did not feel that way at all and read his post and thought, way to go! Meanies!

Well at least get them to stop minting useless dollar coins. Post Office, not part of the US gov't? Are you sure about that? The name is United States Postal Service. Shouldn't yell, it is very unbecoming of a lady.

The USPS is not paid for or supported by tax money. It is an independent operation that generates its own income from stamps and delivery services. Since its reorganization in 1971, the cost of a stamp has increased considerably from 8 cents, to 44 cents in 2009. Postal revenue of $75 billion in 2008 would have made it the 26th largest corporation on the Forbes 500 list if it were privately owned and operated. Unlike most I use more than one source to know what is going on. I do not hide behind a ficticious screen name, my real name is JOSEPH. With that said, Benjamin Franklin started the US Postal Department in the constitution as it was written in under establishing post offices, and postal roads. In 1971 "tricky D*cky" Nixon fowled it up by turning it into a corporation style entity with the Postal Reorganization Act. Ehow and Wikipedia Both state it is owned by the federal government. Ehow states it is a "independent establishment of the Government of the United States", Wikipedia states, "It is one of the few government agencies explicitly organized by the United States Constitution". Therefore it is a part of the US Goverment, it's funding, and operational command structure has changed to form the United States Postal Service, instead of the US Postal Department. Both are under the auspices of the executive Branch of the Government.USPS have control over their affairs, but the executive branch has final say. Common internet etiquette says when you use all caps, you are yelling, or excitedly expressing something. To the general public my name is JOSEPH, not Joe. The "above" comes from www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/satellite.html, I watch the planetary weather there, and have since 1996.
