OK, Tonight I am down...But I am thinking who the hell cares??? We as vets have served this country and - who the hell cares - I am glad. I proudly served so no pity party here, But does anyone, outside our group care?? I guess this goes hand in hand with another thread here.

I care for the Vets very much, I mail them cards and letters
letting the soldiers know that I'm supporting them
and keeping them in prayer.
Sadden to hear that you are feeling sad.
Will keep you in my prayers.

HELL YES !!!! And I don't think I stand alone . I work hard to make the average civilian I encounter daily aware that IT'S A SHOOTING WAR and our BRAVE TROOPS are not getting the support they deserve from them !!!!!!I also as everyone here should have figured out by now am a passionate supporter of The Patriot Guard Riders and recruit everywhere I travel among the bikers I meet . I also keep on top of Veterans Affairs and e-mail my representatives with my concerns regularly . I also think the people who bothered to read this post show their concern just by taking the time they did to do so!!!!!
GBU Mike WE STAND and WILL NEVER STAND DOWN !!!!!!!
Judge understood from the get go that His Service was appreciated and STANDING DOWN when STANDING BESIDE ME IS NOT AN OPTION !!!!!

I am not a vet myself, but there is a very long line of Marines in my family.
I truly love our military men and women, and I will ALWAYS stand by them !!
Thank you for protecting us, and protecting our freedom!
Without freedom.. we have nothing.
To all our Vets: Thank you... forever !!!

Think nothing of it Terry, we all need it sometimes, and we all get down. But this is what a family is all about.

I care a lot. Ride in every PGR event I can. Went to USCG New Haven, CT on Friday and met the Commandant and a few WW II veterans who also served with the CG on D Day, Anzino, at Guadalcanal and at Iwo Jima. Got a ride on the CG Cutter Ridley from Port Jefferson, NY to New Haven with a few other old salts.
The New Haven event was to dedicate a new facility in memory of a USCG vet who commanded a team of 50 troops just after D Day. Do a google search for Capt. Quentin R. Walsh, USCG. His small team went into Cherbourg France and convinced a much larger group of Germans to surrender by playing out a poker bluff. When I heard about his feat and that he got the Navy Cross for this (seems Alvin York got the Medal of Honor in WW I for this)the tears flowed. His widow (90 years old), kids, grand kids, and great grand kids were there. It was a fantastic day.
If you never heard about how his role helped get the guys off the beaches at Normandy and into German held territory then spend some time learning about the heroics of June 6th all the way to the end of June. What the heck, learn about the rest of '44 too. My uncle got machine gunned in the Battle of the Bulge. My other uncle fought in the liberation of Bataan and freeing our troops that were captured when the island fell to Japan.
The only regret I had was that I was a CG DI for a short stint and taught customs and courtesies of the service and didn't already know of his name. But now I do and I plan to make sure I tell about him and people like him everywhere I go.
On the cutter with me was a local police chief. A fantastic guy who sadly lost his son (the sole Coastie lost in the War to date) in the Persian Gulf in 2004 while trying to stop a terrorist from attacking an oil terminal. I went to his son's memorial back in 2004 and also met his dad again this year at another PGR dedication to a Marine who died in the Beirut bombing in 2003.
I live in a co-op which has all sorts of rules. Finally got them to agree to put a flag pole up right after the Friday trip. Too bad no one got a shot of the tears streaming down my face when I hoisted the flag for the first time on this property.
Went a week ago with the PGR to the Vets Home in Northport, NY and escorted a bus load of disabled vests to the Moving Wall while it was still on Long Island. Anyway, I'm going to need a lot more kleenex tissues if I keep typing today.
So to answer your question...yeah, I care. BTW, I also served as a volunteer EMT, fire fighter, cop, and still do a lot of volunteer work in the CG Auxiliary.
