Most soldiers would rather never have to use their weapons, but that's not realistic and they know that. These men and women have hearts too. They have emotions and have to lay their heads down at night and sleep, with God knows what on their minds! Yes...it's a job, but like no other. They wake up and wonder if they will die or their buddies will die today???? Who will lose an arm or a leg??? What will I see today that will haunt me the rest of my life??? I wish I could hold my wife, my kids or hug my mother today! Will I ever see them again?? We wake up in the morning, go to work and whine about being bored or have to do to much paper work or whatever. Wow, we have it tough! roggor Merlin, OR age: 80	No one needs to be dogging anyone, and that includes our soldiers. Personally, I have not seen or heard anyone dogging any soldiers, so I'm not sure what you refer to. I've met a few out-of-commission soldiers who have medical problems. The wife of one is very critical of the war that left her husband as he is. But to personally attack, to spit upon the returning soldiers as was the case with the returning Vietnam vets, well, that is disrespectful regardless of who the recipient is, and is the behavior of a "few bad apples" who do not represent the mainstream, which tends to feel sympathy for those who have endured the horror that is war. That said, there might be a few soldiers who do not deserve sympathy or respect, and just because they wear the uniform does not automatically mean they are honorable people. Underneath the uniform is a human being, and some human beings are honorable and some are not.

Some soldiers (majority) deserve our respect...but there are also some scumbag ones also (the puppy guy, the rapists and murderers of that 14yr old Iraqi girl etc). Take each one individually as you should anything. A friend (used loosely) of mine is in Iraq and he openly admits to being there to 'kill the towelheads'....not someone who deserves a lot of respect really. Sure support them but not blindly...there are bad apples in every barrel.
