formation quoted from the US Secret Service Web Site.

4-1-9 Schemes frequently use the following tactics:

* An individual or company receives a letter or fax from an alleged "official" representing a foreign government or agency.
* An offer is made to transfer millions of dollars in "over invoiced contract" funds into your personal bank account.
* You are encouraged to travel overseas to complete the transaction.
* You are requested to provide blank company letterhead forms, banking account information, telephone/fax numbers.
* You receive numerous documents with official looking stamps, seals and logo testifying to the authenticity of the proposal.
* Eventually you must provide up-front or advance fees for various taxes, attorney fees, transaction fees or bribes.
* Other forms of 4-1-9 schemes include: c.o.d. of goods or services, real estate ventures, purchases of crude oil at reduced prices, beneficiary of a will, recipient of an award and paper currency conversion.

I went to 419 scammers and this is part of what came up, but they also have online dating scams. I hope this helps you.

here is a better explanation for an online dating scam, it explains better

How do you spot the 419 scam?

Here are some tell-tale signs that you've been approached by a scammer:

* the person who is approaching is brand new to the web site, has only logged in a few times, or logs in very rarely
* the profile is written in poor, broken English
* the photograph is fake-looking, or obviously fake, or copied from somewhere on the Internet
* the photograph is of a too-good-to-be-true young woman or man or is obivously a posed photo of a model
* your correspondent asks you to go straight from on-site messaging to Instant Messaging (IM), or regular email (they don't want the evidence of their scamming to be visible to the site administrators as they will normally be kicked off)
* you receive a message describing any of the outlandish situations I've outlined above out of the blue
* the scammer claims to normally live in your country but is currently working in Nigeria or another country

Bear in mind that any of these characteristics can apply to genuine online dating site members as well, so just because one or two of these tell-tale signs is present doesn't necessarily mean you're being scammed - but be on your guard.

If I come across a real person who wants to email me further, I prefer to get them to send me an email directly to my personal email account - as these can be more easily "traced".

Also, I stay away from people who only want to IM me from within a website.

Scammers are everywhere...
I am gullible..., kindhearted... very lonely at times.
My friend a male... said I can move in with him...
Yet I ask him... are we gonna have a friendship... or a relationship...
He asked me "do you need everything etched in stone...
I say... I just want some peace of mind... I want to know what I'm getting myself into... I want a realation... but loving, understanding, kind he's not... and it scares me... He tells me... that he does not want to see me moping around the house... being sad or angry.... yet when he's angry and rejecting... I find it hard to put that smile on my face and say everything is gonna be alright...

When I said..., I should seek a job working opposite shifts from you..., he started to be nice to me again...

Excuse me if I'am wrong... but shouldn't a person who wants a relationship with you... would at least want to satisfy your needs and want you around....
I guess we should just be friends... or try to at least be freindly towards each other... I don't know whats gonna happen...

Your right Zewitch.... I can't afford to live on my own.. and I will be moving in with him at the end of July.... I guess I'll have to take it from there.... He says he doesn't want to see me living on the streets... but just because I'am living with him does not mean he can treat me like crappy....

Cece - I understand that you are not able to pay the entire rent yourself. But if you could live with a female or male person who would not play that sort of headtriip with you, - I would definitely NOT MOVE in with him.

My feelings anyway.

Cece, how about posting a roommate wanted ad on Craig's List? I have been very successful there. The man you are moving in with seems very controlling, your heart seems to be involved while his isn't, I see all sorts of red flags. He may not want you to live on the streets, but his actions are speaking louder than his words. If you are still living in your apartment and paying rent, you might want to advertise on Craig's List. Only answer local responses and screen everyone. I know it sounds like work, but better than being in someone else's home, under their roof and under their rules!

There's about a billion and a half different forms of scams.
Even more online.
More of them are directed towards men, because in most cultures, men tend to (still to this day) have more money - and a greater willingness to spend it on what they believe to be a person of the opposite sex.
Please select which scam you would like to hear about.

Sweetie, he knows your are in a vulnerable situation and is trying to take advantage of that fully. If you can get your things out you should. And take everyones advice and YOU find a roomie.
Good luck, but be careful.

Just make sure you have Plan B in effect in case he gets violent or weird. Scope out a shelter or place to go, and keep a support system in place, friends or co-workers, who will know where you are most of the time.

Things are very scary right now and I've just come out of something that could have done me in. I was fortunate enough to have ended it before it started.

Take care and many blessings to you.
