Depends if I am single at the moment or not

If not single... Yes, flowers, teddy bear, etc

If I am single... why are all these "love stories" and "chick-flicks" on TV?
(in this case, just call me the Valentines Day Scrooge )

I disagree with you... It can be the the most romantic day of the year. It shouldn't have to be, but it is a great opportunity.... Carpe diem!

I love the thought of Valentine's Day, but not that it is assigned to one day in particular. It just feels so....... expected (I don't know if that is the word I want). Maybe it is because I am currently alone, but it just seems like a day that many feel disappointment as more, and more and more flowers are delivered to the office that day. They all land on my desk before they go off to those receiving them.

Last year was a hard one for me as I had just ended a LTR. At lunch time, I had ENOUGH and went out and bought me some flowers. I signed the card "I love you very much. Me" I didn't tell anyone till the end of the day that I was the one who actually bought them. I admit to being a bit out of it last year and not at all interested in trying again. The card, while ment to deceive those who asked (and there were many) "are those for you?", was true.

People put a lot of pressure on themselves and relationships or lack of on that day. It is just another day.

I will however, buy me flowers again this year. It has become a tradition.

You will enjoy the day, how Krazz?

I believe we all are who we are because of where we have been. That does not make it bad or bitter. It just is what it is. To pretend it is anything different, is not realistic. The fact is, many here will not have another to celebrate with so they will either choose to celebrate on their own, or not recognize the day at all.

I know you are just trying to be the devil's advocate here. Trying to give us another way to look at things. That is good that you do that, but there are many sides to each view.

Personally, I will enjoy the day. I will also buy myself flowers again. This time though, I will actually sign the card.

I would expect you all to defend your "positions." But they are weak defenses at best (try stepping outside your skin and looking at your responses). Sending flowers to oneself? Claiming it should be like any other day? So then you don't want to look for someone to have a special day with.....Now come on folks. "Just being you," has gotten you where????

If you are here on a dating site, I would think that at least, you might ENJOY something special to happen on that day....

But thanks for identifying yourselves as the ones who I would not have interest in... But that's okay. That is your opinion and I respect it. But you are really missing out on the excuse/reason for the "possibility" of a special experience, if you have it in you!

Krazz
PS: I am here for the enjoyment of the forums and not "trolling" for a piece of anything! But most of you have confirmed why I am not interested in most of you. My thoughts and opinions..... No animals are harmed in the making of this response.

It is such a shame that certain people insist on saying they "like themselves as they are and only when they are alone. Whatever.... Sooner or later you will need to step out of your own little box. Until then, stay on yor side of the country....

Krazz darling,

I am operations specialist at the cynic clinic and you are still my bud.......is that some sort of mercy friendship? LOL

Re: V.D. I respectfuly declined a dinner invite from cute neighbor guy but made alternate arrangements for another date because I am not sure where I want that "relationship" to go, but did not think a Valentine's Day date was appropriate at this time.

I am cool with everyone's own coping skills........I hermit myself to deal, but have been pushing myself to get out there more and say yes to offers...within reason, of course. lol

Valentine's Day. It's really come to be just a Hallmark sort of day for me. I think it was all the years of marriage and (step)kids that actually did it in. Now, it really is just another day to schedule simply the romantic "trappings" of a day that long, long, long ago, truly was a day of romance to be cherished and remembered.

I agree with those that would rather be surprised throughout the year with random acts of kindness, romance, and whatever else that may be up my sleeve , , , after all, spontaneity is the spice of life.

And, Kat, a Valentine's date? These days, it's a date. I don't think too many men dwell on the significance of it, anymore. For me, it seems over-contrived, and not anything I expect to go any further than any other date , , , unless, of course, this date follows on from more meaningful prior dates. This year, it will be a date. I don't even know with whom yet, because it will be in Japan. And, no, I'm not expecting it to go further than the cheesecake.

It's ok Krazz, I believe in different oppinions. You are not one I would be interested in either and that is ok... too much time seeing what is wrong with others and not seeing that they just might be happy as things are.... too much time spent talking to others here and not on real life. It is possible to make good friends on a site like this one, but it is likely they will just be pen (typing) pals. Distance makes meeting any most unlikely.

I didn't plan on being on this site, but since I was brought here, I thought it might be nice to see what others thought. To perhaps gain greater understanding of others and maybe find areas of myself that still needs work. That I choose to spend Valentine's Day alone in celebration, for me, is the right move. It is a celebration of where I have been and how far I have gone. For another (for you?) it may not be. I could find a lonely person to go out with that day, could even sleep with them if I wanted to... but for me, that would not be the best move. For me, that would be a move of despiration and would evoke nothing but saddness. If it is for you, then enjoy it, but don't cut another down because they see things differently than you do. That will bring nothing but silence from those who might otherwise speak here.

Do I expect to find the love of my life here? No, I don't. Do I expect to find friendship in people who for what ever reason, find themselves single, too? Maybe.

I wish you a very happy Valentine's Day... spent how ever it is you choose.

SL

I don't think it is over rated but it can be a very depressing day for some if you are not in a relationship but if you aren't then I have always hoped that I would end up with a secret admirer who would send me flowers or something. Never has happened though. Ha! This will probably be a sad day for me unless I do find someone before then. I ended a two year relationship back on 4th of July so I will probably think about the loneliness but try to make the best of it. Valentines Day was not a good reason to stay in that relationship. Ha!

If not cool just another day. A friend (girl) and I are just going to hang out at the house. Walk the dogs mine and hers.

I love valentines day! This year I'm doing it solo, just out of a LTR ver recently, but I got my kids and I've always given them somwthing sweet on valentines day. I don't think it's just about romantic love. Its about love in general and I do have love in my life. So this year my kids and are heading out to sunny Florida on the 14th. I am going to enjoy this day that symbolizes love if I have a boyfriend of not!

Also, I do like and want valentines day exknowledged whern I'm in a relationship but I want our love acknowledged throughout the year. Flowers die. Love notes and backrubs, phone calls just to say I love you last.

Redneck's Valentine's Day Poem that'll touch your heart-

Roses are red,
or are they blue?
Hell I don't know
but i do like you.

I love you more
than my truck's tires.
Yer more useful than my
old rusty pliers.

You cook a good deer
and fry a good egg,
just wish you'd shave that
hair off your legs.

If you decide not to do it, Pumkin Face,
It's okay, I'll still feel the same,
I'll just keep on tellin my buddies,
yer up fer a part in Planet of the Apes.

Yer my pride and joys,
What a lady!
But hows come we do it
only when it's my payday?

When I ran over ya with my truck,
you didn't even say "ouch."
And you are so cute,
when you wipe your boogers under the couch.

I hope we stay together,
at least a couple more days-
cuz i'm really horney
and I want to get laid.

Happy VD!!!!!

I think commonman has the right idea. Every day should mean something special if you have someone you love in your life. I have people that I love in my life but not that special compainion for life that we all need. I know you all might think I'm crazy but we all deep inside wish we had a life long partner to share things with. Good or bad. So as for myself, I will enjoy Valentines Day with my kids and grandkids but I will at bedtime still long to have that special person to hug and tell that I love him and thank him for being in my life. And Pete won't do hillbilly. LOL

Thank you CommonMan for saying it well. I also think that if there is not a special person in my life on that day, it is a great day to just celebrate on my own.

For me, it is not all that important to find a date because that is a day we are "supposed" to have one.

When I was a little girl my Dad always got me a cute box of candy. I alway think of my Dad on Valentine's Day, cause I couldn't wait to see him. A Redneck Valentine

Collards is green
my dog's name is Blue
and I'm so lucky
to have a sweet thang like you.

Yore hair is like cornsilk
a-flapping in the breeze
Softer than Blue's
and without all them fleas.

You move like the bass,
which excite me in May.
You ain't got no scales
but I luv you anyway.

Yo're as satisfy'n as okry
jist a-fry'n in the pan.
Yo're as fragrant as "snuff"
right out of the can.

You have som'a yore teeth,
for which I am proud;
I hold my head high
when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions,
when you shave under yore arms,
well, I'm in hawg heaven,
and awed by yore charms.

Still them fellers at work,
they all want to know,
what I did to
deserve
such a purdy, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape
yo're there fer yore man,
to patch up life's troubles
and fix what you can.

Yo're as cute as a junebug
a-buzzin' overhead.
You ain't mean like those far ants
I found in my bed.

Cut from the best cloth
like a plaid flannel shirt,
you spark up my life
more than a fresh load of dirt.

When you hold me real tight
like a padded gunrack,
my life is complete;
Ain't nuttin' I lack.

Yore complexion, it's perfection,
like the best vinyl sidin'.
despite all the years,
yore age, it keeps hidin'.

Me 'n' you's like a Moon Pie
with a RC cold drank,
we go
together
like a skunk goes with stank.

Some men, they buy chocolate
for Valentine's Day;
They git it at Wal-Mart,
it's romantic that way.

Some men git roses
on that special day
from the cooler at Kroger.
"That's impressive," I say.

Some men buy fine diamonds
from a flea market booth.
"Diamonds are forever,"
they explain, suave and couth.

But for this man, honey,
these won't do.
Cause yo're too special,
you sweet thang you.

I got you a gift,
without taste nor odor,
more useful than diamonds...

IT'S A NEW TROLLIN' MOTOR!!
