What exactly does the word *honest* mean to you? |

I am just curious and wondering how some can define the word honest. Just what exactly does this word mean to you? Some can place pictures of themselves that are 10 years old. Is that what honest means to you? Do you think you never change physically (even though you may be the same person inside) in those years? Why some people are are first interested, then see a picture and run. My curiosity is up now.

Newbee, to me honest means being truthful in your words and actions. This includes acting and speaking what you really feel, not what you think the other person wants to hear. I agree, a 10 year old picture should be noted that it is 10 years old. JMHO

ohhh goodie lol i get to finaly be a third person.. ohhh did i say that out loud sorry keys r starting 2 reflect my personality... this can b a bad thing humm would that b honesty. so far as i know liers are liers.. just give it time and you will see what someone is like or at least what they want to be. my opionion is that you really cant hide the thought,. it becomes action sooner or later.. somepeoples thoughts are just differant than actions and some people live in la la land.. just take this as an intersting way to met people in this computer age and how you use it and preseve your self is amazing.. i just got called on no longer having a nose ring or tongue pearcing soooo i guess i am dishonest if i dont add a txt saying no longer wearing studs..or should i say no longer a ringed person. hummm might difently change how some people see me and hay and the peircings was just recently removed beyond my control.. sorry damm i wrote a letter again.... and your still reading interesting....

Exactly, I think you hit the nail on the head. Speaking what you feel and not what you think they want to hear. Today computers are ego boosters, and both men and women fall victim of words of flattery.

Exactly, I think you hit the nail on the head. Speaking what you feel and not what you think they want to hear. Today computers are ego boosters, and both men and women fall victim of words of flattery.
I would assume that you are referring to people that are intellectually and mentally immature as refers to those who are impressed by flattery. It has always been my understanding that flattery was nothing more, at best, than a cheap worthless attempt at insincere praise. Kinda like saying you're a christian sunday and then cheating someone on monday.
Honesty is being satisfied with having only what belongs to you. That also includes not screwing your buddies(?) wife when his back is turned. Could honesty also include giving up a friendship because your buddies wife is a slut/tramp/unfaithful. I would think women(hopefully) would have similar attitudes.(?)
Addendum: Honesty means doing the right thing when no one is watching. Something that is considered to be a virtue, as in character!

aboomer, I do not have a dictionary available, but the things you mentioned are what I call integrity.  Have a happy Labor Day!

Very good response from the both of you. This is what they teach you in law enforcement. Doing the right thing when no one is watching, also means integrity.

Just started on this site and brandnew but I have to say that integrity and honesty go completely together all the time! Doing the right thing when nobody is looking is honesty without accountability at the moment! That should be taught automaticaaly to children by their parents while growing up! this world would be a much better palce to live in if everyone practiced that virtue of all ages all the time.

Hello y'all, I got into a mess by feeling bad that a guy was making suggestive remarks about me meeting him behind a lady's back, knowing that I knew he had said that they were becoming involved. I asked on a forum and everyone said that I should tell her...... I told her, sent her a copy of the e-mail..I could not eat it bothered me so much....she said she knew and would still prefer to have him than be alone....he even laughed that he had messed around all the time he was married....How can someone do that and look themselves in the mirror????

I've read through several of these threads and I have to admit......from what I've read, I seem to be one of the very few who hasn't been considered for sainthood. I've told a woman she looked nicer than she did. I often groom more and dress better on a first date than I do on any given day. When asked what would like to talk about, I will (more often than not) attempt to pick out something more interesting for her. I will always conceal my sexual desire for a woman until I feel it's concensual.
We are all deceptive at some level.
We all lie to some degree.
Hell, we lie to ourselves as much as others .
I'm not going to proclaim my integrity to the world.....nor am I going to nit-pick the shades of gray.

what honest means to mean, is to always tell the truth no matter what, even if you get in trouble, when we lie it always finds a way to catch up with you if not now but later
my favorite saying is To Thine Ownself Be True, if you can do that you can be truthful to everyone you meet in life, but unfortunately most people dont have a conscience these days, hilderip
