It's been over six years, so I need a refresher. How does dating work in MN? It seems everyone goes out for drinks. That seems lame to me, unless it includes playing darts or actually doing something. So, when people go out, what do they do here?
And, since I'm a girl, should I even be asking? Am I suppose to wait to be asked out and then do what the guy proposes?
How do things work? Give me your two cents.

I don't drink, so going out drinking is out! I think women can ask out a guy just as easy as the guy can.

I don't believe there is a rule book out there. Dating is what you make it. Even here in the great white north. Not sure why going out drinking is the norm. Maybe because alcohol settles the nerves a bit?
Waiting for the man to ask isn't a rule from my view point. You find someone you like? Start the process. You go girl!!!! Lifes to short to sit around waiting.

Chivalry is dead.
equal rights is the way, so split the bill, or you ask and pay.
Dates are like job interviews.
How about going strait to the point. "I'm looking for just sex."
"I'm looking for kids and a wife" .. too forward?
You want games. run around, does he like me? do i like him?
I believe some women need a specific amount of drama in their lives.
Nothing too easy. whats the challenge then. It's all games.
Problem is I think that most women are completely unsure what they really want.
Should i wear blue or yellow, these shoes with these pants?
Get all dressed, change their minds, and get frustrated.
Men go.
pants.. check.
wallet .. check..
lets go.
Pizza and a movie, some drinks then who knows.
Just my 2 cents.

I still haven't gotten the dating in Minnesota thing 100% down. Even though I moved here 6 years ago.
Drinking is usually a favorite activity, as is anything outdoors.
And yes Minnesota or not, it's perfectly acceptable for a woman to ask a man out in 2008.
You won't always get positive responses for doing it. But if a guy can't handle it just move on.

If anyone every finds a rule book or gets the dating thing down pat then let me know, but if you say you've got a lead pipe lock on it I'm sure there will be a lot of people that will call you a liar. I believe that it's a different adventure for each person so take advice with a grain of salt and go with the flow.

I would say that in my huble opinion just find a person that might be kool or look at the email you have gotten and say hey lets do this...... The other thing would be if the first date goes well then take turns of what you want to do.

I heard that two people meet on a frozen lake in the middle of winter. One person says to the other, "Can I bait your hook for you?" then they make a little hole in the ice to go fishing. Then, they get to know each other and discover they are more attracted to each other thant hey thought. After they are done fishing, they go to someone's place and cook and have a wonderful dinner.

** You aien't kidding there. If I was a woman, I'd be much worse off than I am now. I would like still trying to think what I want to wear. Oops.. I think I'll change. Today is different from what I was going to think yesterday of wearing tomorrow. Go figure. The men then wonder why they're upset with their SOs and all.

I am not afraid to ask for thier number, ask them out to coffee, drinks, dinner...even ice cream! A walk around one of the fantastic lakes. Whetever. If they prefer a 'bar', it is then of my choosing so there can still be an atmosphere of communication.
