blueshand gave me this idea. I am an expert on older guitars, bass's, and amps. I have bought, sold, worked on, modified, LOVED, and bastardized,(forgive me) over 500 guitars in my life......each one special.I think I may still get into Heaven if I do this.... If you have a question about what you have, or what it may be worth......I said "older stuff"
Not the "squire" you bought last year. I will give you an honest evaluation, not "low ball" you, then offer to buy it. Which is what I would usually do. I feel so much better now.....

Henry, are talking about the 3/4 size, semi-hollow body from the 60's-70's or the newer "John Lennon" reissue, which is also shorter,"scaled". I don't personally own one, I know where one is, (the newer one) You don't want to know what the original would cost, and the newer one is about $1200. If that's what your asking about.

Glad you are doing this! It is a great service to us. Any Martin D-28's laying around ? A D-18 would be nice yet it may be a little high.

OK guys let me "clarify" this a little. I've been doing this buy/sell/trade/repair/modify thing for 25 years, I have whittled my collection down to about 25 guitars, and 12 amps.....I don't have anything for sale....I will buy, on occasion, something that I really want. What I can/will do is help anyone know what it is they have, or what they are looking for......and what it is worth on today's market. Which is a little soft right now. I can answer basic repair questions. I can help you figure out if your guitar is "all original", or modified. I can give suggestions on how, or if, you should modify a particular guitar/amp, and if it will de-value that instrument. I have at my disposal, over 50 books, manuals, and reference texts about guitars, and amps.....if you are looking for a particular instrument.....I will only give you a reference that I know to be reliable. I usually only deal in high end, older instruments, but I know about newer stuff too....I just love anything guitar. You guys check your local pawnshops there are still great deals out there....if you know what to look for. Henry....the 325 I spoke of is gone...."Rick's" are hard to come by these days....the waiting list for a new one, is almost a year, depending on the model. I waited 6 mos, back in 04' for my new 4001 bass.....it was worth it. I now have 3, 4001 bass's, A 68', a 72' and the new one.If you want to go that route... Guitar Resurrection, in Austin TX, is one of the few "Rick" dealers in the south. Their # is (512) 478-0095, ask for Jim. I just got off the phone with him, tell him Robert sent you.
B,hand....I will look for that Martin.....

Frqntflyr, A friend of mine has a "Pre Telecaster" Basically a "Fender" (no Telecaster Name on it), 1950-51. Do you have any idea about why it wasn't tagged a Tele?

sure do B'hand. The Telecaster was "officially' released in 1950,as the "Broadcaster" along with the single pickup "Esquire". unfortunately, Gretsch had a copyright on that name, so, after less than 400 were made, in Feb. of 1951 Fender dropped the Broadcaster name. They continued making guitars while they decided on a new name. in late April, or May of that year, the first "Tele's" appeared. It is commonly thought only 300-400 "No Casters" (as they are referred to) were made. They didn't keep all that accurate records back then. If your buddy's guitar is the "real deal", a serial # between 0001, & 0999, should be stamped on the bridge plate, (or "housing") The bridge pu's poles should be flush, not staggered. There should be no "body routing" between the pu's, 3 brass "saddles" on bridge,(2 strings on each saddle), and every screw on the guitar, from neckplate, to pickgaurd, will be slotted.....not "phillips head". If the guitar is the "real deal", and in decent shape,
he is sitting on a small gold mine. If you/he want further authentication, let me know

Sorry, I've been out of town for awhile, B'hip, I would have to have an idea of how old the guitar was, A serial # would be the best way to ID the instrument. A lot of factors are involved in establishing a guitars "worth". Mainly.....is it all original? what kind of shape is it in? Do you have the original case?......and so on.....If you no longer have the guitar, do you really want to know? It might just make you want to kick yourself in the ass.
Just for reference, an all original, with original case, Tan, Duo-Sonic, from 1964,(pre-CBS)
in excellent condition, goes for about a $1000/1200 these days....hope that helps

What is a 79 Fender 25th Anniversary Strat going for these days. Its actually in like new shape as I have really never played it much. Bought it in 79 to replace a rickenbacker and the group broke up. Havent played much since. Still have a few guitars though as well as a Fender 75 amp with 8 10" speakers in 2 cabinets. Interested in its value also. Thanks

Hey b'with, I'm assuming your strat is silver....(Porsche silver actually), the first 500 were done in a "pearl white" finish. Pretty rare....If your baby is in excellent shape, you have the original case, and the "Certificate of Merit", that each one was issued with, and you have not modified it in any way.......about $5000. All the serial #'s start with "25", and then 4 digits, the lower the # the better. I have not found anything on your "Fender 75" I need more info.....like year, model #, bass amp, guitar amp, etc.....etc....
