Alright it seems like everyone is wanting to meet but so far this has not come to fruition so I decided to create this thread of what is happening in Arizona. That way any of us can maybe get out of the house and maybe meet up. So if you have or know of an event coming up post it here. I figure that way we all aren't sitting at home wondering what to do. So I will start:
I am a member this group I even talk about it in my profile. Here let me quote from the website a better description :
The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Participants, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group.
I have been participating off and on for 12 years and enjoy the hell out of it especially the camping events. So with that being said; The next camping event (can day trip it too) is 6-10 Nov in Winkleman, AZ. For details go to: http://www.southerncrusades.org/
I run the newcomer's/ singles encampment so if anyone is interested in this sort of thing let me know I will help you to get started.
Ok now I would like to see events coming out of the woodwork so we can all enjoy Arizona .

The Tour de Tempe Bicycle ride is coming up this weekend. It starts in Kiwanis Park in central Tempe, runs up into downtown Tempe and returns. Its all on bike path and bike routes, they also have the intersections under police control to let all the bikes cross without alot of stopping.
The whole ride will be 8-10 miles on average. Any type of bicycle will work.
The event is free, and starts about 8:00 am on Sunday the 26th. Good way to get out and enjoy a nice ride with lots of people. (last year there was at least 800 riders.)
Its a recreational/leisure ride, so you can take it at your own pace, no rush to be first or anything.

Weatherwench I like your attitude. Build it and they will come. We all need a leader! To me it looks like Chandler may be a good place to meet if there is a venue there. It is an hour to 1 and 1/4 hour drive for me in Tucson. Others from Phoenix and outlying areas would have about the same drive am I right? So if we could keep an eye on things happening there around the thanksgiving and seasonal holiday themes it would be really fun. Here are two that I found that are outdoors and festive. You don't need to have a dog to attend Woofstock. I like the last event the best. Could always go on to a pub or restaurant before or after an event.
Woofstock – The Great Chandler Dog Walk
Tumbleweed Park
Saturday, November 15, 2008
8 A.M. - 12 P.M.
Woofstock – The Great Chandler Dog Walk will be held at Tumbleweed Park from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Admission to the event is free.
www.chandleraz.gov/woofstock
In addition to the dog walks, Woofstock will feature musical entertainment, a variety of pet-friendly vendors, food and beverages for sale, photos and caricature drawing, a pet psychic, an auction, contests, vaccinations and pet adoptions. There will also be demonstrations by local organizations of the growing sports of flyball, dog agility, dog flying disc catching and more. Tumbleweed Park is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Germann and McQueen roads.
For the non-competitive charity walk, owners and their dogs have the opportunity to walk one of three courses – short, medium and long. Participation in the walk costs $20 per dog in advance or $25 per dog the day of the event. Proceeds from the charity walks will benefit the American Service Animal Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enabling disabled veterans to live a more productive life through the use of service animals. For more information on the Great Chandler Dog Walk visit http://dogs4vets.org/woofstock.php or call 480-802-9339.

Try the websites jobing.com and careerbuilder.com . If you put in Casa Grande, AZ or the zip code (more limiting) it will show you all the manufacturing or clerical jobs available. I saw manufacturing jobs starting in Chandler and Mesa (a bit of a drive) but didn't look for clerical yet. Tucson might even be closer for you than those areas. If you haven't tried that already, hope this helps.
