"Got unhappy STD news? Break it with an e-card" Breaking up over e-mail is a social no-no.
But sending an e-card telling someone to get tested for STDs may be a public health courtesy. The electronic cards deliver the news in a variety of styles. Some are flirty: "You're too hot to be out of action. I got diagnosed with an STD since we played. You might want to get checked too. "Some are somber: "Who? What? When? Where? It doesn't matter. I got an STD; you might have it too. Please get checked out."

This was an article posted on CNN.com/health on 10/21/08 regarding to sending a previous sexual partner an ecard advising them they should get tested for an STD. What are your opinions on this topic? What do you folks think......good idea or bad idea?

I don't think that is the best way to tell someone that. I would rather tell them in person.

A male i know gave a woman herpes and she had cancer and was having treatments..
which means the herpes virus could of killed her, since she had little to no immunities from the chemo, on her initial breakout...

I believe since there is a high rate of libal cases proven that some one had an std, and did not take proper precautions or did not tell them first, that they had it...
that people are being sued out their backsides..

e cards are a good will gesture.. and i also agree...somehow that information should be told, if someone is going to have sex with an unknowing partner...

i do not see this happening, because of the admitting of the liability...

sad isn't it...

and it will be like the energizer bunny...

std will keep going and going and going...

NEVER have sex w/o a condom!!! That also means NO oral for or from me!!! Before committing to a relationship where sex is more often and condoms can slip...have partner checked and prove STD free!!! I think an e-card like that would be such a scary thing to read! This is the biggest draw back (for me) to just being sexually free whenever I wanted.

It's a very serious issue, but sending an ecard???? I mean how would you feel when you checked your email, there is this nice little note telling you...

"Get tested you could've caught an STD!"

How would you react?
