I have been asked numerous times what it is that I'm looking for--I hate that question--I can't put it into words. Its a feeling, a desire deep inside of me--I will know as soon as it comes into my life.
I'm looking for a friend first-a real friend-a foundation for something that will last the rest of my life.
He will have a smile that warms my heart, a tear that breaks my heart. A hug that takes all the fear away. A touch that makes me quiver with desire.
My best girlfriend told me I was being as goofy as a 16 yr old. And maybe so. But when I was 16 I BELIEVED in love and still do.
I've lived a full life so am grounded enough to know that life isn't a rose garden.
I don't want someone to lean on-I want someone to walk beside.
I want someone in the livingroom hootin and hollerin over some football game while I'm in the kitchen checkin on dinner-lol I know not a romantic vision. But a warm vision.
I want someone to have Sunday breakfast with-whatever time we decide to get outta bed.
This song is how I want to love and be loved again. Till I find this I will live my life with my dogs and be content with it.

I get what your saying to start off with. People ask me what I'm looking for and I just think "I'll know when I find it", but you kinda trail off when you get into the quivering at his touch, melting your heart, screaming at a football game stuff. Real life NEVER fits your expectations, in all likelyhood your guy may not even watch sports, and AT TIMES be an insensitive jerk, but you'll learn to live with it.
I usually say I'm looking for someone that is as into me as I am into them, but its not as easy as it would seem!

the sports are neither here nor there-he could be in there sleeping my point was just knowing that the person you care about more than anything in the world is right there safe from the world. but if need be the two of you could take on anythig that might read its ugly face
also there is not a possiblity that I would be with an insensitive jerk that is why I'm totally content living my life until the right person enters my life.
if the man i expect to live the rest of my life with can't make me quiver with excitment at his touch or the anticipation of his touch--welll thats not the man for me--I'm not talking absolutely everytime, but if it isn't there sometimes well once again thats not the man for me.

That leads to people who mate well and tolerate one another well enough to stay together -- for a while.
But, it is what most people seek, and many settle for. I know I did, when I married my ex at 30. I figured, "Well, that's all there is: f**k and sorta get along."
But, it was not what I believed in.
I believe that there are kind people in the world -- who try to make it a little better and easier for others, when they can. Not necessarily to their own detriment, but out of a realization that after one's own basic needs are taken care of, it is natural to look a little further afield. These are the sort of people you want as friends. These are the sort of people a kindred spirit wants to befriend and give back to them everything they give to the world.
Is that a naive view? Only if one thinks that there aren't those who don't perceive those with that philosophy as having "sucker" stamped on their forehead, and is not wary of them.
But this viewpoint recognizes actions that have, for lack of a better way to describe it, the "smell" of being self-serving -- the fellow who compliments the lady so that he might have his way with her. The attraction and motives might be mutual, but the result is just a business deal driven by libido.
It is for this reason that I too, seek a strong friendship ahead of any kind of physical intimacy. I want to share good times and suffer bad ones with someone I can only describe as having a "kind heart and gentle soul". From that stems a desire for closeness, to feel her near and safe at night. Greater intimacy evolves over time from such a solid foundation. It is for this reason I shun those who have a blatant priority of sex first.
So, you do not have the mind of a foolish 16 year old. You recognize what has true value, and like all things valuable, it is rare.
