I did with my son.. it makes it easier for them to keep it clean. My cousin wasnt circumsized and he hated the way it looked so his parents let him be circumsized at age 16 and he went through ALOT of pain.. They say its better to do it when they are babies ..jmo

Please have him circumcised. He may not actually thank you but if he happens to ever get an infection, he will cuss you for not having it done! Most children do not understand the importance of cleanliness in general and the process that is required to clean an uncircumcised penis will seem like a waste of time to them. If they get an infection it will be extremely painful. My son's mother did not have him circumcised and when he was 10 it got infected, I cried for him. Please do yourself and him a huge favor, get it cut!!!!!

Yeah, insurance doesn't pay because it's considered a cosmetic surgery. Some people I've talked to say getting it done helps reduce risk of penial cancer, stds, and is just cleaner. I had my son circ'd but I don't think they did it right. He's 27months and I was told that by now if it was done correctly I wouldn't have to pull any skin back to clean it or see his head. Well, I still have to pull it back. They didn't really tell me what to do with it when it was done. They just said to put the vaseline on it. My sister on the other hand didn't have my nephew done because "that's the way god made man, it's meant to be there." Personally, I don't like an uncircumcised penis. I don't think they look good and I've been with an uncut man and I don't like it for certain sexual things.

it is important he can catch diseases if its not clean. bacteria build up, thats why they did it in the bible and its easer for a rubber to stay on when its done, ontop of that he be down on his self because he's not like everyone else.
so love your child and have it done

It is your choice.........he has to be taught to keep himself cleaner......it is no big deal either way........I have one son who is and one who isn't......
Talk to a pediatrician about this he/she can help you understand the advantages to either.

when i found out that i was pregnant i had to sign a paper saying that if it was a boy that i understand that if i wants him circumcised i would have to pay for it myself... well i said no right away.. because what if the doctors mess up and it ends up looking worse then it did before... and i dunno how much it even cost...

most hospitals will absorb the cst thru, what they call charity care,,
i had some surgery a couple of years back, underinsured and the hospital
billed me nothing,,worth looking into,,
some women dont like them uncut, and were glad to see i was,,
a friends two boys kept getting infections and had to have it done later,,,
at 5 & 7,they were quite uncomfortable for awhile healing,
if its going to be done i would think better as an infant,
i dont remember my circumsision thankfully,,,
goog luck to you either way,,,,,,

Insurance and Medicaid don't cover it because as I mentioned, it's not a necessary surgery. it's a cosmetic surgery. We had to pay $500 for my sons and it was done the day he turned 2wks which is the latest they'll let the pediatrician do it. After that you have to take him to a urologist.

I was in the same boat. I ended up paying $380, to get my son circumcised. It's better for them in the long run. In case of any infections. I myself would rather not risk it. Its in the best interest for you son!

Are you Jewish by chance? It is a spiritual event for them, it is called a brisk. The preacher will actually come to your house to perform the circumcision in front of you and all your family and friends. If not, check into all possible options.

I have two little boys myself. I was lucky as far as the medicaid went, they were both covered. Most hospitals DO offer an "uninsured discount", to which whatever procedure is done, the cost is knocked down to at the most half that. And most places will be happy if you say hey, I'm a single mom, I can pay you $5 a month. They'll take it, it's still money in their pockets.
As for the actual procedure, I would get it done ASAP, jmo. As everyone else said, just think about the infections! They aren't going to remember it, that's a given. And if they DO want it done in the future, that is something they will-not-forget.
Good luck with everything!!
PS--what are you thinking of naming your son?
Edited cuz even my FINGERS got fat from all that dinner, lol, and just can't type.
