Hell, then you have to go to all the trouble of getting your friends to go to a bar with you!!! Forget about them, it's him you want to see anyhow. Ask him if he would like to go to lunch, or to a bar after work. Play it by ear. You don't have to get him to fall in love with you, on the first get together. Hopefully, after a few times, he will get the hint, and start asking you out.
If you need to come up with ways to do it, engage him in conversation about his favorite places to have lunch, where he likes to go after work, etc. Then just ask him if he'd like to go there with you.

OR... You could stalk him after work, find out where he hangs out, and just 'accidently' run into him.

I once dated this guy I worked with and it ended really badly. We never spoke about it I tried but he wouldn't. THings got really bad at work after that. He would ignore my requests for customer service and make me look bad in front of customers.
