book or story as a child?

Mine was The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.

I still have the original book my aunts used to read to me, and I use it in my classroom every year.

The Littles...most 4th grade teachers would know who they were. Oh, and of course the "Little Women" series.

Mine was the House on Harmony Lane. I've not seen it since I was a kid nor do I know anyone else who has ever heard of it.

That is one of the coolest things about Dr. Seuss, many of his books have much deeper meanings then it appears. The Lorax is an environmental statement and was so written before its time.

Oh my God, I can't believe we all had to read D*ck and Jane. Imagine the kids now reading that.

You are telling me, We are reading To Kill a Mockingbird in my ELD classes and there is a character named D*ck. Half the class snickers every time I read his name.
