i was very happy about no snow till last night. i didn't have to worry about driving on ice or snow. now there is even less to do in klamath falls. it's pretty but not functional. people don't know how to drive in it. and odot doesn't clear all the streets very well. just the main streets. oh well it's here. at least it'll be a white christmas. merry christmas or happy holidays to all.

We had a few big flakes last night ... but nothing more.  Dark skies today ... it won't be long. A good day to light a fire and curl up with a book ... or an HBO marathon weekend.

My first responses were rather "califony" --- like, my idea of "roughing it" is not having six major shopping malls within a fifteen mile drive. Or, my idea of "roughing it" is not being able to watch the young surfers while driving to work in the morning --- in January. But I wouldn't want to say anything like that in fear another war would begin. Right? Time to go watch the kids sledding down my street.

snow is fun or pretty to look at if u don't live in it. pipes freeze, icy roads and more accidents. last night temp in klamath falls over night was 0 degrees. the temp in lakeview wwas -11. that is just cold. not to mention shoveling walkways and sidewalks in no picnic. it's part of living here. but u don't get to travel like you want to due to conditions. if you have ever had to put chains on while it's snowing, you understand. if you haven't just ask someone who has. it's part of athe weather in oregon, but it's not fun to dig out your vehicle or to drive on ice. 97 toward chiloquin has already had two fatal accidents. thats just the start of the winter season. anybody know how to unfreeze pipes, no hot water in bathroom yet, just cold. you can't shower in cold water.

Hope some knowledgeable person will give you information about pipes. All I know is to leave faucets dripping --- particularly the faucet furthest from the source of water. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Good luck!

Turn on all hot water faucets, slow stream. Open all cabinet doors, closets, pull back shower curtain. As far as the frozen pipe - that can be tricky. If you know which one, a damp with cool-to-room temp NOT HOT, cloth layed on it over time may do the trick.

I heard one local went into his crawl space with a blow torch to try to thaw out the pipes.  House caught on fire. Duh ... wonder if he was a California blonde????
