I was living in the Washington, DC area at the time and all one had to do was travel a short distance outside the Beltway and there was plenty of gas but the DC area really suffered. What a coincidence, the capital city. I have heard this blamed on Nixon, Carter, both of the Bushes, LBJ, Republicans and Democrats alike. I don't think we will ever get the full story. I have also heard there is plenty of oil. I really don't know what to believe. I did buy a 2007 Toyota Prius, I love the car, and the mileage is great. I actually traded a Mercedes in on it and very glad that I did.
