Fire burns intensely, and consumes oxygen at a rapid rate. It is hypnotizing, yet dangerous.
Fire burns intensely for a relatively brief moment of time, and then consumes its source of fuel until only ash is left.
I have no idea if this answers or addresses the question posed. It may only raise more issues.
