The woman in the bed had a face created to steal a man's breath and haunt his dreams. Eyes of green with a hint of brown whispered of sex and smiled knowingly from beneath thick black lashes. The skin was white with a hint of warm rose beneath--just warm enough that a man could fantasize the heat was kindling only for him. The mouth-and oh, the mouth was hard to ignore, curved invitingly, appeared pillow-soft, yet strong in shape.

Framing that staggering face was a rich, wild tumble of dark hair with highlights that streamed over creamy bare shoulders. Glossy, gorgeous, generous. The kind of hair even a strong man would lose himself in, fisting his hands in all that silk, while his mouth sank deep and, and deeper, into that soft, smiling lips.

There she laid in that king-size four poster bed with the laced linens draped around the sides. She seemed so small lying there on that left side of the bed with the right side wide open. As the sun broke through the window, she felt the heat of the morning telling her a new day was beginning.

As usual, she arched her naked body beneath the mountains of blankets and stretched her arms overhead. The stretch started the blood flowing to her brain and helped her to ignore the ache in her stomach. When she finished stretching she burrowed deeper into the blankets. She didn't move. Not this time. Her emotions were simply too raw to risk.

Slowly she turned her head and focused on her surroundings. She then stared across the other side of the bed. It was empty. It is always empty in the morning. She reaches over with her hand and touches the sheets hoping to feel the warmth of his body. All she feels is cold, cold which reminds her how empty her life is. As a tear rolls down the corner of her eye, she is reminded of how lonely a beautiful morning can be. Oh how she craved him. Her hands ached for the touch of him. She needs to smell him. To look into his eyes and tell him what she was feeling. But there is no one there. Another morning has come, and he is not there. She wept.

                **********

He was dreaming. Part of his mind recoginized it as a dream, but his stomach muscles still fisted, and his pulse rate increased. He was alone in an angry black sea, fighting to make his arms and legs swim through the rising waves. They dragged at him, pulling under into that blind, airless world. His lungs strained. His own heartbeat roared in his head.

His disorientation was complete - black sea below, black sky above. There was a hideous throbbing in his temple, a terrifying numbness in his limbs. He sank, floating down, fathoms deep. Then she was there. Her eyes were a soft, mystical green. She spoke his name, and there was a laugh in her voice - and an invitation in the laugh. Slowly, gracefully as a dancer, she held out her arms to him, folding him in. He tasted salt and sex on her lips as she closed them over his.

With a groan, he came regretfully awake. Never in his life had he been so sexually aware of a woman - of the texture of her skin, the subtle tones of it, the shape of her body, her eyes, her mouth. The assault on his senses left him uneasy and baffled. He'd nearly drowned, reminded himself. Now all he could think about was getting his hands on the woman who'd saved him. Saved his life. But where is she? Can he hear her? The voice who called to him. Is there anyone trying to find her? Where is she? He listens for the music.....

                *************

She is waiting. She is calling for him. She sings:

                Hear me
                Hear me

                You gotta be out there
                You gotta be somewhere
                Wherever you are
                I'm waiting
'Cause there are these nights when
                I sing myself to sleep
                And I'm hopin' my dreams
                Bring you close to me
                Are you listening?

                Hear me
                I'm cryin' out
                I'm ready now
                Turn my world upside down
                Find me
                I'm lost inside the crowd
                It's getting loud
                I need you to see
I'm screaming for you to please
                Hear me
                Hear me

                Hear me
                Can you hear me?
                Hear me

I used to be scared of
                Letting someone in
                But it gets so lonely
                Being on my own
                No one to talk to
And no one to hold me
                I'm not always strong
                Oh, I need you here
                Are you listening?

                Hear me
                I'm cryin' out
                I'm ready now

                Hear me

                I'm restless and wild
                I fall, but I try
                I need someone to understand
                Can you hear me?
                I'm lost in my thoughts
                And baby I've fought
                For all that I've got
                Can you hear me?

                Hear me
                I'm cryin' out

                Hear me
                Hear me
                Hear me
                Can you hear me?
                Hear me
                Hear me
                Hear me
                Can you hear me?
                Oh, oh, oh, oh...
                Hear me
                Hear me
                Hear me
