I live in the country but within walking distance from town. It's really unique I have a great view and can get to Yosemite in just a few min.
Have deer, racoon, bunnies and wild turkeys go thru my yard daily! It is perfect!!
Very small town no major stores or stuff like that, one stop sign in down town which is 4 blocks long.

used to but not any more! Wish I did though life was so much simplier and quieter. Still live in a very small town and dont have to go far to be in the country at least the town I live in is on the mississippi river and we have loads of trees and wildlife in the winter we will have eagles flying all round here- really cool.

I also live in the country,I live on some acreage, wooded with pond & stream in hilly rural Maryland. Today I saw fox & deer, beautiful fall day. I live NW of Baltimore not far from the Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam. My families original immigrant fought for the union army and was wounded in Virginia at the wars end.

I also live in a vary rural area,There are about 2000 people in the whole town. There are drawbacks though.Forty miles to the nearest town one way and 60 miles the other way.
Only 3 pubs so the only social life at all is in a bar. And during the week there may only be half a dozen people in any one of them and all men.So meeting any women here is very slim pickins.
I do love it here,I see elk, deer, turkey and bear all the time, just need to import some women

I too live in the country. I have lived here almost all my life. I moved to Michigan when I got married. When we moved back to the mountain after his time was up I appricipated the country alot more. Then after the divorce I lived in the city and now I'm back again. I live on the hightest point in the county, and if it snows you either have to drive a 4-wheel drive or park and walk. I back this time to stay even if the winter roads a bad. The summers make up for it.

I can hit Nashville in 30-40 minutes. Super Walmart, Lowes, movie theatre 8 miles or less.
O'Charlie's, Ruby Tuesday's, and Cracker Barrel are about 4 miles.
I have a little over 1 acre, not near enough privacy. Nice quiet street. I look forward to buying a bigger place with more trees. My money is all tied up in some acerage in Florida. The market there died!

I have loved living in the country since I moved back east from L.A.,CA. This is a very fast growing small town. Was less then 10,000 15 years ago to 18,000 now with lots of illigals. Is getting a little too big now, have to drive 3 or 4 miles to see a cow.

I've lived in the country off and on all my life. I would love to be in the country again. Even had a chicken farm once. When the feed truck didn't shut the top of the silo I would climb up there to shut it and sometimes just sit up there looking out over the country side. Had deer, turkey and all kinds of critters out there.
I love how much brighter the stars are at night when the city lights aren't in the way. Give me a cool crisp night when the sky is clear and you see the stars and moon so bright and you smell the wood burning stove. Hear an owl call. It's heaven.
I pray I'm able to retire in the country.

It is amazing at night here... the stars go all the way to the horizon instead of blending into the light polllution and you can see the Milky way without trying... so many stars... reminds me of being at sea and the first time I went out on deck on a moonless night.. shocking to see how many stars are out there... billions it seems
