OK, folks, I finally did have a date with a gentleman that I met on this site. He lives in another state and was willing to drive 170 miles to meet me. We went to a Chinese buffet. I came home and became violently ill with food poisoning. The poor guy was stuck on the couch with [Eddie and the Cruisers]. I'm wondering if any of you folks have any first date disaster stories that you'd be willing to share.

I do..............
When I first started dating, I met a man online. Supposedly 48, handsome italian man with a full head of dark brown hair. we talked for weeks and I finally decided to meet him. We were meeting for a drink at On the Border. I went in and looked around...I didn't see him so I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. A man came up behind me and said, Nancy............ I turned to look at him. He had to be 65 years old, gray hair, bald. He had tatoos from the tops of his shoulders to his wrists. I was shocked but I was polite and I did stay for the drink. I told him that I wasn't interested. I hate people that lie.....

Rule of thumb for me. I do not take home a 1st date. I don't care how far they live. If I really want to meet someone who is far I ask for a half way locations. It may have been a God sent for you to get sick. Usually good or bad my 1st date is at a safe zone and if I don't feel a connections then it becomes my last date. Need to practice safe dating.

I So Agree With 19maria50,,,Safety First,,,or ya could end up with a real
disaster story,,,
public place , if travling to meet midway seperate rooms or even hotels ect.
make your own reservations
i have met a couple,that even though they were local,met and stayed in public
gratefuly ,as they werent what or who they represented,,

How about we never made it to the first date?  I was ready and sent him a message asking if he needed directions. (Stupid me, he told me he was a truck driver and could find any place). This was almost 2 years ago now. Anyway, 15 minutes before I was going to leave to meet him he got back to me on the IM that he couldn't make it after all. The car repairs were more than expected.  He tried twice more to go out with me. We never made those either.
