Raven... Now if you could get up close and personel with pictures of the moon....

I'd love to be able to take pictures real close up of it so we can see craters, and mountains, etc.....

Good pics....... I like the blue the best. Also like the ones you did before of the moon...those were great!

Of course, this is just my opinion ---- u can take it or leave it.....

When photographing the moon, the idea is to have details of the moon, an actual moonscape, not just a white blob in the sky. I've never gotten a moon shot that i was truly happy w/ as the max telephoto capability i have is 300mm & the size of the moon in my pix is too small to satisfy my sense of aesthetics.

A book i have on night/low-light photography suggests using a lens that's at least 500mm or using a teleconverter in addition to ur lens. Ya, how much $ do u have for that 500 lens? lol. Yeah, i don't have one either. However, teleconverters r a LOT cheaper. If u have a digital slr camera, there's always the built in 1.4 (?) increase of the zoom (i.e. 300mm x 1.4 = 420mm), but that still doesn't work for me & my moon shots. Dabernabit!

This book, written b4 digital cameras (which i think would still hold true for digital) suggest these starting points ....
100 ASA/ISO, f/11 @ 1/125
200 ASA/ISO, f/11 @ 1/250
400 ASA/ISO, f/11 @ 1/500
Of course u should bracket ur exposure .... one of the 3 is bound to be right on. The beauty of digital ---> PLAY!
