I just received some very disturbing news. One of my girlfriends, who is on another dating site, met a man in person she has been communicating with for months.She thought she knew him well enough to meet. He put something in her drink and raped her. I know we are as careful as we can be even meeting with someone who we have met initially in person (remember the old fashioned way?)
Of course my friend is going through an awful ordeal right now. My heart is breaking for her, I feel helpless and sick. I would like 5 minutes with this guy  The police were notified, his profile has been deleted, cell phone has been turned off. So far they can't find any trace of him. She doesn't even know if he gave his real name now.
Meet in a public place, don't leave your drink, watch you are not being followed home. Have someone you know call to make sure you are okay during the date, tell them where you are meeting this person. It is terrible we have to go through this because not everyone is like that jerk. I am sure most men are sincere. Just be careful meeting someone and if he is a nice guy, he will understand your concern. Yeah, I absolutely tell people where I'm going, who I'm going to meet and how long I plan to be. I've only met one person that I met online and it was for a lunch date during the work week, so it was strictly kept to an hour long. I told all my co-workers where I was going.
I'm so afraid of meeting people in person that I've met on the internet. It's a scary thing. These guys can come across as trustworthy and sincere men, but they could be some criminal that's just good at what they do. That's pretty darned scary - I actually met and spent some time talking to a guy in Breaker's a couple of weeks ago. He'd probably do the same to someone he met without the dating site, so you can never be too careful.
I know this really ticks off all women everywhere, but it should also upset men as well because these are the scum bags that make us not trust or believe any of them. It's why relationships are so hard to establish.
Because this guy met her from a dating site, the law should be especially hard on him. He should be made an example so it is less likely to happen again.
I never even go to the bathroom once my drinks are no the table. If I do, I wait until my glass is close enough to empty and ask for a fresh drink when I return to the table. You can never be too careful - people sometimes think I'm a little weird, but better to be thought weird than found dead!
I will say a prayer for your friend and I hope she comes through okay.

I am sorry for your friends situation and what she is going through, no one deserves that to happen.
