Been there, done that, got the scares to prove it. Raised American Saddlebred Show Horses for to many years. Northern New England Stonybrook Farms. Foaled every one of the color breeds in Saddlebreds including my favorite Tobiano Pinto.

Mediaman - Scares or Scars, or maybe both. I will admit, there is nothing softer than a horses muzzle, I just love to touch and rub them.

Great idea. A group of us try to get together to ride the whole day at least once a month for the past 12 yrs. We always start at the house of a friend and ride into the next county and back. Even in the winter as we always stop to eat at a diner who lets us tie up behind the place.

I remember when I was young, my grandfather told me you can tell how old a horse is by opening his mouth and see how many teeth it has. This one particular horse was now a gentle filly, and when no one was looking I thought I would try it. Well, he closed his mouth to see how many fingers I had. As Jonathan Winters used to say, "Boy that smarts, and brings tears to the eyes"

This reminds me of a joke Bob Hope told when he was in Charlottesville about 15 years ago.
These three wranglers after a hard day stopped at this saloon. Two of them, noticed the Third was getting very inibriated. They decided to turn his saddle around. Later they left. The next morning, the Third guy was asked by the other Two, how he got home. The Third said "you know, somebody cut the head of my horse off, and I had to put my finger in his Juggler to keep him from bleeding to death"
