Taken yesterday, it was raining. Saw this egret in a tree! Had to shoot...a pic. Never saw an egret in a tree. Herons, yes.

I've got those in my backyard also. Ususally males. I hear them calling in the early morn, in the oak tree, over the lake. Love hearing their sound.

So was this shot in the day?

The owls, that is.

Yes, it was mid afternoon as I recall. I've been seeing them regularly lately. The photos were from last year.

Sow and cubs....there were actually 3 cubs but I could never get all four of them in the same frame. That and I wanted to make sure I could win the foot race back to the truck.

great pics everyone,

p.s. The only "wildlife" I've seen around my home was a type of hawk outside of my class at Mt. Sac. Will try to find it.

OK. I figured it out. Photobucket is the trick. I'll try it when I get a chance. Otherwise, I'm wondering if Picasa works too.

The way I understand it, the difference between amateur and professional is that one makes an income from it and the other does it for a hobby.

Maybe there is some validity there. You do nice work.

By the way, I lived in Denver for nearly 16 years up until Spring of 2004. Then I moved to Glenwood Springs to live there for the second time. Then moved away last summer to where I am now. I love photography and have taken a lot of photos over the years. Before, I used a film camera for a lot of years. Now I use digital, but have kept my film camera around. You can visit my more recent albums online at http://picasaweb.google.com/packlercat

Enjoy!

Oops! Too late to edit my previous post and the thought occurred to me that it was a little off topic where wildlife is concerned. But here is something more on topic. It contains some wild fowl.

That is a large turtle! and the one before you is a very large Deer! I had some river otters coming into my pond the last several years but they are hard to photograph, kind of illusive. I was rowing a boat out on the pond and one popped up next to me and startled me big time, even startled my dog. Anyone get a good photo of one out there? they are so cute and entertaining.

The large deer is actually an elk.

Not the greatest shot, but and otter just the same.
