I know from my own experience, that the ones I thought had potential to be something more, ended up being no more than a friend. Why? because I find that the more I talk to them, the less we have in common. But they are fun to have a laugh with. Rarely do I get an opportunity to talk to anyone cept' when I'm online. So I took advantage of it. I've been able to do so because we have this week out for the holidays. But hope you all get what you are looking for here @ DH .

i've learned to take everything w a grain of salt,i believe what people tell me until proven otherwise,and online relationships are usually different than flesh and blood relationships.
talking about this w the concerned parties i think is a must,be prepared for the meet up to go in different directions than expected,and i'm hoping my level of maturity is enough to handle anything....it would be a shame i think to lose the special closeness we develop online w people because we weren't a good match on the other levels.i've only dated from the net in the last few years so that is my perspective on it.

The hardest lesson learned thus far in life is years in a marriage can't be one way, as much as you try to fix it, it has to be a two way partnership. You can't please someone if they don't want to be pleased. You can't fix someone, if they don't want to be fixed. You can't change something, if it can't be changed, and you can't feel guilty about the marriage failing because you didn't try (which I still do) .

My biggest mistake is trusting my intuition too much....to a fault. I've always trusted my intuition, and if it tells me to get the hell out, I do. Someone always gets hurt though....I'm hurt when I bolt, but it's better not to be that much hurt down the line.

The hardest thing I've learned is that women for the most part think all guys are liars. However, I got to the personals and the gal says she's a few pounds over. I wonder what they mean by liars. Hmmmm......when did 120 pounds overweight become a few pounds over? Then I am told that all men lie about their age. Hmmm, again. I have never lied about anything. I am what I am. If I can't take it to the bank, why say it? I'm not perfect, nor did I ever say I was. I'm not ashamed of who or what I am. And then I'm told they want confidence. But, it doesn't appear they have much confidence in themselves. I'm stumped. But, at least I'll admit it.

Falcon's original point is right on target. Other things learned? Be more spontaneous -- don't over analyze things, a fault of which I'm very guilty. If your "relationship" is only sex, it'll wear off and could get you in trouble (happened to me a long, long time ago). You can't buy someone's affections. And long distance relationships that work are a rarity.
