Look at my home state, Illinois. All but one county is red and the one that is blue is controlled by one city which is of course Chicago. Richard J. Considering who repersents Illinois in the Senate these days, meaning Durbin (Obama is a newcomer) I am sure Ev Dirksen and Abe Lincoln are rolling in their graves along with Stephen A. Douglas. In Virginia we refer to the senior senator from Illinois as Durbin the Turbin and consider him a pathetic joke. The real question is why do we allow people like Durbin to get elected. I think we know the answer. I also think Hilary can be beat if we mobilize our forces.

I think it was the prayer thread in the 50+ group where I said the president should have the old fire side chats every week, exposing congress for what they are. once the American people hear how they are up there, I believe things will change. we shall see.

One lady could not spell Al Kida or even bothered to look it up and someone is convinced Gore would have caught Bin Laden. Another indirectly blames Ken Starr for Gore's defeat. In 2000 I had two different women tell me that Bush should not be elected because he will outlaw abortion. I replied that we elect Presidents to lead us not dictators and that no President has the authority to outlaw abortion. Both women were educated and one had an undergrad degree in political science and a masters in public administration. The scary part is these people actually believe this stuff.
