Does anyone know where I can get a Confederate Rose that's already to plant? I tried rooting several and they didn't work.
Thanks much..

Are there some rose catalogues or a nursery that sells mostly roses around? I know there is a rose nursery here
about 70 miles away, stopped there a couple times. Good luck, am sure you will find it!

It may be listed under mallows. The proper name is hibscus mutabilis

from my experience they require 6-10 hours of direct sun and love large amounts of water. They can grow 6-10 feet in a year and a large area is needed.

Oh, it is a mallow? They do well in my area, too. I have one 5 years old that is over 8 ft tall, gets full sun.

Thank you for all the imformation. Wish there was a nursery here, but large ones with a good variety are scarce. The catalogs I get don't have any, seems they are more of a old fashioned, pass a long. I may just take a shovel and check out the country where old homes have been discarded.
I didn't know the other names, that may help me with the catalogs.
At any rate, I'm not giving up! Gotta have one!
Thanks again.

If you have one that you can root from try to pull it from the bottom or use a shovel to slice a part off that already has a root. Sometimes the tender spring shoots will root easy. We usually take cuttings from mature wood and put them in water over winter inside a laundry room and by summer we have a lot of them.

Bluestone nursery has them. I've bought several things in the past from them. They won't ship now tho until fall unless you live close by their nursery.
Be glad to give you a shoot from mine. I have a pink double. But have several of the perrenial hiabiscus.
Most gardeners will be glad to give you a shoot from their plant that live close to you. So if you see one, stop and ask. Try to get it right before a good rain, during, or afterwards. There is a place on line called ? garden swap. All I ask is they send self addressed envelopes or maybe send me the postage back. No one has cheated me yet!
