Remember: "If You Can!"

Senior Citizens Are Valuable:

We are more valuable than any of the younger generations:

We have silver in our hair. IF we have hair!

We have gold in our teeth. IF we have teeth!

We have stones in our kidneys.

We have lead in our feet and. ..

We are the best!

Tell us why you are valuable! Or Tell us why someone else is valuable.

We have wisdom in our heads......between the senior moments.

We have experience to pass on......if and when the younger ones ask.

.....and now the rest of the thoughts have slipped my mind. Ahhhh, a senior moment.

How some of the best recognise each other.

Having already downed a few power drinks, she turned around, faced him, looked him straight in the eye and said, "Listen here good looking, I screw anybody, anytime, anywhere, your place, my place, in the car, front door, back door, on the ground, standing up, sitting down, naked or with clothes on, dirty, clean . . . it doesn't matter to me.

I've been doing it ever since I got out of college and I just love it."

Eyes now wide with interest, he responded,

"No kidding. I'm a lawyer too.

What firm are you with?"

Quote from soldierbyte:
The best are not those who always "follow the rules"..
But those who do the RIGHT (human) thing REGARDLESS of the "rules"..
"We" are now the best because we have gained the courage to
no longer bow to peer pressure, politically correctness, and acceptance..
Once one reachs our age one must admit that experience is a HARD--
but a due and true teacher...
We ARE the best.. as we have made it...
but alas..
with our young ..
all we can do is TRY and hope they can learn from us...
and that my friends is the TRUE test of our worth..
Judge a man/woman NOT by how they died...
but by how they lived their life...

When I Sign On
-- by John T. Baker
When I sign on,
My cruise begins,
My universe
Now sweetly spins,

The heavens part
Before my eyes,
What fun to watch
The curtain rise.

Another day
Of joy awaits
As I contact
My cybermates.

We know no bounds
Of time or space
Although we meet
Not face-to-face;

Though ever free
To disagree
Our minds unite
In harmony;

Our spirits soar
Beyond the bit
Of earth or sea
Where we each sit;

Our souls take wing
As instantly
We leave behind
Mundanity.

We're blest to share,
Thanks to God's grace,
This miracle
Of cyberspace.

CRABBY OLD MAN

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in North Platte, Nebraska , it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Missouri .

The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St. Louis Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

Crabby Old Man

What do you see nurses? . . . . . What do you see?
What are you thinking . . . . . when you're looking at me?
A crabby old man . . . . . not very wise,
Uncertain of habit . . . . . with faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food . . . . . and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice . . . . . 'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . . . . . the things that you do.
And forever is losing . . . . . A sock or shoe?

Who, resisting or not . . . . . lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding . . . . . The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking? . . . . . Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse . . . . . you're not looking at me.

I'll tell you who I am. . . . . . As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, . . . . . as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten . . . . . with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters . . . . . who love one another.

A young boy of Sixteen . . . . with wings on his feet.
Dreaming that soon now . . . . . a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty . . . . . my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows . . . . . that I promised to keep.

At Twenty-Five, now . . . . . I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide . . . . . And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty . . . . . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . . . . With ties that should last.

At Forty, my young sons . . . . . have grown and are gone,
But my woman's beside me . . . . . to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . . . . My loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me . . . . . my wife is now dead.
I look at the future . . . . . shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing . . . . . young of their own.
And I think of the years . . . . . and the love that I've known.

I'm now an old man . . . . . and nature is cruel.
Tis jest to make old age . . . . . look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles . . . . . grace and vigor, depart.
There is now a stone . . . . where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass . . . . . a young guy still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys . . . . . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . . . life over again.

I think of the years, all too few . . . . . . gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . . . . that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people . . . . . . open and see.
Not a crabby old man . . . Look closer . . . see ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet

an older person who you might brush aside

without looking at the young soul within.

We will all, one day, be there, too!

PLEASE SHARE THIS POEM

The best and most beautiful things of

this world can't be seen or touched.

They must be felt by the heart.
We are the best. We will sometime arrive at that age, I hope you can see me and I can see you.

I ALWAYS TRY TO treat the elderly people like I WANT someone to treat me.I have noticed every year goes faster as we age,and we'd better grab that brass ring and run with it......enjoy every day as if it's your last.

I WROTE THAT and have to give myself a good talking to because I WORK TOO MUCH and don't do much else.It is a fact and I HAVE to re-prioritize my life some way.......hugs---fal

I think maybe the only thing we are lacking for totally being the best, is ourselves. I don't think we give ourselves enough credit for all that we have done to arrive here, I don't think we give ourselves enough time and opportunity to explore, discover, welcome and make the changes we might like; and more than anything, I do not think we give ourselves enough of our own time, care, concer, and considerations we still give to many other!

so to continue to grow and excel in our world of the best..love yourself more everyday!

New Priest's Ideas

The elderly priest, speaking to the younger priest, said,
"It was a good idea to replace the first four pews with
plush bucket theater seats. It worked like a charm. The
front of the church always fills first now." The young
priest nodded, and the old priest continued, "And you told
me adding a little more beat to the music would bring young
people back to church, so I supported you when you brought
in that rock 'n' roll gospel choir. Now our services are
