What do you really think of people who aren't actively looking for a date on DH?
I read another thread today where a guy was frustrated that he is actively searching to find someone so he can get off these dating sites and is not happy about being on one. He went on to say how upset he is that it feels the majority of people on here are merely playing..
I just wanted to see if there were any hotties in the town I was moving to and what people would do for fun there, but I had to fill out a profile to see the pictures. I am not looking for a relationship at all, and was never intending to meet someone I would become attracted to or give out my number to, lol. Truth is I have come to love you guys and the friendships that are starting to form.
If I don't want to "hookup" does that mean I should leave?

Oh hell no Dancer!
A lot of people here aren't looking for dates, for a lot of different reasons. This site has evolved so much since Dustin created it. The forums are a great place to talk, vent, laugh, and make friends. Sometimes it's also a great place to meet the one "you weren't looking for".
If you have to leave, so do I. They'll have to drag me, kicking and screaming the whole way!

I originally came to this site following someone off of
another site that we had to pay for.
I can't really say that I am looking for a date, since
technically I have already met my "mate"
Although the forums are a great place to see more people
and get a feel of what they may really be like according to what they post.
I feel that someone serioulsy looking to date needs to do searches
and contact people through the search options,
Not to say that they can't join the forums.
According to many of the threads that get started, the people
that are looking for a relationship think people in the forums
are all fake anyway,
So I say have fun doing what you want to do, be honest with everyone
and no one should get hurt
We are all grown ups.

when i first came to dhu i was in a long distance marriage so i was only looking to meet friends and if they were close enough would have been cool to meet up to hang out from time to time..as my life story goes everyone that i really click with lives across the map from me..so was not able to "date" as i would have liked too...i have met 5 men from this site in person and i honestly liked them more in the net..so honestly i can't say what im here for anymore...just a passerby i suppose...sometimes i become involved in the forum chats other times i have posted a thread of my own...other times i have logged in and sat on the way side...i guess for me i keep coming back b/c of the friendships i have made via the site...even if i was not able to make that love connection here...i value the friends i made highly and so will continue to come till either i meet someone that says i can no longer come or if my life becomes so busy i just don't have the time to come..until then..everyone is stuck with me for a bit longer ahahaahahhaha..i love this place..what can i say!

Hi folks,
Well as for me I am looking but I am being very selective. I am prepared to wait for the right "Lady." I am doing this because of where I live, and how I live. So until she comes along I will visit and make friends. You know though, DH is like a fishing expedition--If you just sit in the boat you probably won't catch anything. But, if you put a hook in the water you at least have a chance. And, if you put a worm on the hook your odds improve significantly. Finally, if you fish with dynamite all you get are dead fish. Don't lie, cheat, or be rude.

I didn't think I should leave, but hated to get in the way of others searching for love.
What I love about DH in no particular order:
pirate's wit and humor, nsew’s confidence and support, mag’s music and easy going personality, waterdog’s adventurous spirit, lee’s genuine character, stephngregs appreciation of beauty and their honesty, breakfast at klassy and stella’s, Tex’s charm and that he loves my cooking, pictures and posts by flynaked, romie, and nick that reflect their quick wicked mind that is so easy for me to identify with.. (There are many more on this list, if you weren’t mentioned yet remember it was in no particular order, ask and I’ll share more).
To those so far in the thread.. V2- you are awesome, I wish I was in Chicago honey, it would make it so much easier to do something I’ve been planning for the last week or so. Kelly- I had no idea you found someone, congrats! I’m so glad you are still here. I enjoy reading your posts. Cande- You rock, woman! We are glad to be “stuck with you”. I can’t help but think of that song when I just wrote that. Lynn- for never holding back. You crack me up more than you’ll ever know. Oleta – love the fishing analogy. I’m probably more like the Brad Paisley fishing song as the fisherman of course, but I guess I have been willing to put a worm on the hook for a select few.
