I agree - there is nothing like being on a bike. I have never driven one of my own. I always rode on my husbands when he was alive. He has been gone 7 years now, but the memories of getting on the bike and heading down the road, no destination in mind, just enjoying the journey was awesome....right in the beginning of my riding I loved it so much and didn't want to stop. Five hours later I couldn't get off the bike without help and surely didn't want to sit in a chair....lol......but that part of the ride quickly faded when he turned the key on again the next time and we took off...

Your right about that, I have ridden 800 miles in one day, got back to the rally I was at, had dinner and then took about 50 others on night ride. Lots of fun, the rally was held way out in the woods, we went through 50 miles of no street lights, just the moon and stars, that was totally awsome..
I love to ride.

I have never been on a rally...I do remember a group of bikers that had come through a town I lived in back east and it was one of the biker's birthdays. The whole group had gone next door to the local pub and celebrated in style. Then they came into my children's toy store I had. I was about to close, but I couldn't resist their requests when they asked me if I would stay open so they could play with the toys. They had a blast and I had many laughs. Bikers are a wonderful group of people. When winter is gone I always yearn for a ride on the open road once again - hmmmmm - maybe some day....

I just did a toy run a few weeks ago, lots of fun, we ended up filling a U-Haul truck full of toys..
Nothing better than a bunch of bikes and riding together..

I know what you mean. There is nothing else like getting on a bike and either riding with friends in a Poker Run or just heading out with no destination in mind. I've been riding for longer than I would actually care to admit - I started when I was 15 and my boyfriend had a bike - my Dad hated him. He never did get over it but man, we had some fun. Once rode a bike from Syracuse NY to Corpus Christi and back in under two weeks. We had a blast. Only problems were one flat tire, an altercation with an owl that flew up out of the ditch and connected with the front of the bike and so much rain in Little Rock that I literally had to wring out my leathers and pour about two quarts of water out of my boots! I used to drag race in my younger years then went to being a rider only. Still loved it though, the freedom is just too awesome. Several years ago I bought my own and rode her until I found out that I have to bad discs in the base of my neck. My neurosurgeon agreed with my not wanting to have surgery so he put me on bed rest for a month. After that was over I asked him what I was allowed to do and he told me he couldn't bring himself to tell a Harley riding woman she couldn't ride and then the next advice was not to lift anything over five pounds. I'll let you do the math! So, he told me to bring pics of my bike and when he saw her he told me she was beautiful and then asked me if I was crazy! She was a customized 1200 C that had been customized by lowering, chopped with drag handle bars and turbo charger. So, I kept her for about a year and then sold her to a friend of mine that has kept her basically in the same concept she had been morphed into, so I don't feel so bad about selling her. It's amazing how attached you get to them.
One of the best things about living here in South Carolina is the freedom to choose whether or not you wear a helmet. I never wear one. Talk about feeling the wind in you hair - there is NOTHING like it! And, it really isn't good for me to wear one with the condition of my neck so I am very happy to have that freedom!

NO Helmet, I would rather be a mess up corpse, than a nice looking Veg..
Most of my riding is no destination in mind. LOL
I love to feel the wind, the power, ohh man its great..............
I have a lowered, crusier Metric, 1600 classic Vulcan.. I love that bike and NO I would never sell her, even if I get another one, I will alway keep my first one..

Yup, no helmet. There is nothing in the world like it. Never say never. Besides, if your time is up, it's up. And yes, I've known some people that a helmet did save their lives and I've known some other that it wouldn't have mattered if they had one or not. What I like the most is that it is MY choice and no one can tell me I HAVE TO. Another great thing about living here in SC is the weather. We have more ridin days than most. Hell, back home in upstate NY, we had to bring the bikes inside for dayum near 5 months but we used the time wisely and broke 'em down and had plenty of time to make repairs or cool changes. Even with the high winds today I could hear bikes around town. Heck, some of the hard cores around here don't even own cages, they ride all year round!

You do ride alot! I think that's funny about having to jump your truck off because you hadn't used in so long! Although I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time. I really hated to sell mine. I did think about changing her to a trike but I just didn't want to, excuse the word, bastardize her. The really cool thing about selling her to my friend is that he will let me ride her anytime I want to, which I can now because he did change the shocks on her so she is a much smoother ride now. Vulcans are cool, sounds very much like a Harley.

I love riding too..without a helmet but for long rides its a good idea to wear one. As and EMT I have scraped people off the pavement that didnt wear helmets..not a nice sight..But I hear you may it does feel great to have your hair blowing in the wind, but oh so dangerous.
