I have to tell you even though everything I listed above might sound wonderful at first glance I don’t think any woman would want a man who could do all that! The irony is: I’m not always available, I have a busy life and can make time with a little notice. I’m not clingy, I’m comfortable with some space in the relationship. I’m comfortable without constant relationship updates, I like to let things progress naturally. I’m also secure without artificial compliments. In a relationship I will continue to make my friends an important priority. After all they’ve been with me for some time. Finally I’m not going to tolerate poor treatment in a relationship. And I wouldn’t want you to either. I think maybe the best way to meet an honest kind loving woman is to be sincere and honest right from the start.

Poolpal, I hope you were just joking with that ridiculous list. I certainly don't need anyone to be my father, brother, plumber or Gynecologist. I also wouldn't want anyone who really believes that I'm that needy. It's lists like that that perpetuate the myth that women are needy, clingy, emotional simpletons that need a "man" to "take care of them". I can, and do, take care of myself, and have been doing so for many years. I don't "need" anyone. It would be nice, however to find someone that appreciates you for who you are, and all you do, who isn't afraid of a strong, opinionated woman. It would be refreshing, (although shocking) to find someone that is completely honest (even if the truth is unpleasant), intelligent, honorable, dependable, who has a good sense of humor, who can tread the "fine line" between being up your a** & smothering you with attention, and being an absent partner that never participates in the relationship. Someone that can make you feel safe when you feel scared, makes you laugh when you're down, and can make you want to drag him into the bedroom with just one kiss, or a certain look across the table. Do men like that actually exist????? Probably not. What was I thinking?

Dear sjd130 Please try not to take the list too serious when you get a chance read my posting of 12/19/2009 7:03:04 PM that may help shed some light on it. And yes it's true good men really do exist I'm one of them! I'm not an expert on dating and have had a failed relationship. It doesn't mean that neither I or my partner was a bad person, it just means we had to move foward. I try to be careful as to who I choose to meet and the type of person I want to meet. Remember just because a person ask you out it doesn't mean I/you have to go, I have a choice and I can say no thank you if I want! You're guy is out there and even though you can fully take care of you're self It's nice to let a man help. Because if not for you please keep in mind that it make's him feel good!(to be needed is to be loved) it also let's him fit into your life. Brian

Damn, that's a long list poolpal! Its sad to say, for a few girls I've know that's true, like with the shopping and a guy having to serve multiple roles. Only the way someone treats you should matter. Looks help, and money can make things easier, but all I need is someone who likes me for who I am. Honesty is also a bonus. I'm not following the direction you are going,..or, you missed mine. Since I'm not going to think for you, I'll explain mine.
My point was a person can do all the bullshit listed on the list and be the "perfect" partner. However, they may not be the perfect partner with who they are with. It would be nice if all were receptive to good deeds, but that's not always the case.
So, my point was instead of trying to go off a list to keep someone's attention, be the person you are, and let them fall for that person, on a whole, instead of falling for the list of demands that anyone can complete.
It didn't apply to people changing things about themselves, that they weren't happy with. It was in regards to not creating a fictional character doing fictional things, that the person wouldn't normally do, to generate and maintain interest.
