happiness

We live in a world that makes so much material wealth available to us - it's prosperity that wells up from the many of the wonderful technical advances that have evolved during our lifetime. And we can easily take advantage of these riches, because many of us grew up in a culture of promise - the promise that with initiative, knowhow and skill, earning power and material possessions, we will have everything we want, and with that, we are able to reach the pinnacle of happiness.
But for some reason, the general quality of our happiness has not always kept up with the advances in our material abundance. And it's becoming more apparent each day that some unfavorable trends have been creeping into our lives, with all the increases in violence, betrayals and dishonesty, with all sorts of personality disorders and lack of interdependability seemingly springing up out of nowhere, and some of these questionable behaviors even seem to be becoming morally acceptable.

Interestingly, through their own direct experience, a large number of Eastern philosophers from India have discovered a viable answer to those questions, and have been communicating a resounding, "Yes: we can be more happy." And maybe now, in the 21st century, some of us are ready to listen - and to do something about it. The Sages have been telling us something profound - something that actually sounds foreign to us, in our selfish Western culture - that ...

PROFOUND HAPPINESS = INNER HARMONY, which is a selfless state.

ARE YOU AS HAPPY AS YOU THOUGHT YOU'D BE? WHAT WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE YOU HAPPIER?

MOMENTARY NOTING: Discover HAPPINESS and INNER HARMONY through meditation techniques based on practice-generated direct experience, Theravada and Zen Mahayana Buddhism, and Raja Yoga Wisdom.

The way to attain an expanded field of vision is not all that complicated: it simply results from a shift of an individual's point of view, or way of seeing the world, in a way that accepts and includes the ego and it's world-view, as just another interrelated aspect of a being's total consciousness.
With the re-attainment of the Pure Consciousness viewpoint, the smallminded ego is no longer allowed to continually act out of its complete ignorance of the fact that Interrelatedness, Oneness and Unity is the only reality.

Anyone who wants to, is able to do something to expand their consciousness and vision beyond that which is merely commonly and normally human. It means that, when we are able to situate our viewpoint in that expanded field of vision, we discover that there is only harmony - i.e., that everything is already perfect the way it is - and this viewpoint opens up the ability to experience a whole new level of happiness that most human beings know nothing about, but which is already there, and which most people are intuitively aware of. And it is Heaven on Earth, a level of happiness that all interested individuals are able to attain, provided they put some special effort into it.

So, how do we do it? How do we attain this evolved form of happiness? Three attainments have to happen:

(a) purify or dissolve our inner affectations and presumptions,

(b) expand and reframe our world viewpoint, while

(c) maintaining status in our families, careers and community.

Although it seems like it might be complicated, it's not: it's a natural process, and it's not all that difficult to do. Accepting yourself/situation/depression, daily exercising and meditation are the key starting points.

I've been that way for weeks due to feeling bad about some things. Bored and depressed. Really sucks when you want to feel good or excited about life and then just have to go through motions.
