 Time for the first picnic of 2010. We had one here last fall with a good turnout and it's a real nice place. Sherando Park is easily accessible from I-81, exit 307, going east on SR-277, 1.7 miles to the entrance on the right side.
A covered shelter has been reserved, it will be the first one on the right of the road inside the park.
There is a nice lake and a very good playground for children.
Bring a covered dish or supplies (drinks, plates, utensils etc.) and an appitite. You can list what you'll bring on this thread so we can have a variety, and have what will be needed without to many duplicates . There will be a donation jar to help cover the expence of getting the shelter etc. (5$ recommended if you don't want to bring anything)
I'll provide BBQ chicken or you can bring something else that you want grilled. We hope to see ya there

Okay, hold on one minute...it would have been nice to have thrown it out -- to see
if anyone from Frederick County would have been kind enough to book the shelter and they would be Paid back --- instead of booking now..
Also -- would have been nice to put the date or dates out..so people could choose the best time for them to attend or one date everyone would agree on.
Besides April it is still cold.. No leaves on the trees..
So, I ask, WHAT'S THE HURRY ????
WARMER WEATHER IS COMING ...

It is a month away so people can plan in advance
Fulvia was nice enough to book the shelter while it was still available
I haven't ever seen "everyone" agree on a date. Some prefer this and some prefer another. That just prolongs setting it up and people don't get enough warning that way and the mass emails don't get sent untill a couple days prior to it. Then we get a lot of " I wish I would have known sooner"
I'm sure there will be some nice days in April and we are hoping the 18 is one of them but no guarentees If we don't take a chance, we don't stand a chance.

Hi tauruslady, like Eddie said, giving choices of dates will only end up with not having a shelter available, because they go very fast, and it is impossible to accomodate everybody anyway. Already some shelters are booked for May and on, especially the smaller ones.
The next question that shehasreturned asked is if we want to have some music.
Let's hope for a warm day like today! My daffodils are coming up fast and the magnolia tree is suddenly covered with buds. 
For dessert, I plan to do the cream puffs (filled with homemade custard).
For veggie, I will bring a pot of Hungarian-style fried cabbage (not spicy).

Sure wish there were Meet and Greets closer to home, I love the area that has been choosen for the April Meet and Greet but it is too far away for me to attend. I visited Sherando Park several years ago with my late husband.

Hi tootsweet, Stephens city is between Front Royal and Winchester. An alternate shorter way to get to the park is to Exit I-66 on Hwy 522 North, then about 10 miles and turn left at the corner where there is a Dinausaur Park (can't miss it). In this case the entrance to Sherando will be a short way on the left. The shelter we booked is the Apex, first one on the right side.

Hi to All! For your mellow background, listening and dancing pleasure, Scott can solo as he did last year with a broad range of songs and new selections you might not have heard from him before. Or we have the option of Acoustrix playing more low-keyed and 'softer' tunes. Some of you are familiar with the members of Acoustrix from the big band(V6)-Scott, Jonathan, Sue on Flute and Mike on percussion. Within the range of their extensive Set List, I can probably work up a requested list of songs with them that our group would like to hear. SheHasReturned

Rich, there is a great rv park a few miles down the highway, it is and rv resort they even hook you up all sights are on a slab great place.

Jeff and I might attend - I said Might .. This is the same weekend I have a Master class at Concord in Athens WV.. 6 hour drive to there 8 hour class and 6 hour drive back... Have to figure out how I'll get there but hate to miss out on the fun. Right now I'll plan to attend, niece may be able to come along for the drive - she drives. So that'll be transportaion if she's free and will come too..
