12th Annual BirdieStock BBQ event to help Feathered Friends Forever, America's largest non-profit animal shelter specializing in the Rescue and Sanctuary of Exotic & Endangered parrots of all species.
Memorial Day Weekend - Starts 11am Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Ends 5pm Memorial Day
DJ Music all day, movies at dusk (weather permitting)
All you can eat BBQ, chicken, hot dogs, sides, tea, desserts, etc.
Salads, fruit and veggies for those who don't eat meat.
Just let us know if you're coming.
You're welcome to bring any specialty foods that you enjoy.
NO DRUGS - this is a family oriented event!
Come see nearly 700 parrots. There are 20 outdoor aviaries on 4 acres.
FFF Members also get access to the 2 individual cage areas in the main building.
Bring your camera and your friends!
Admission is by TAX DEDUCTIBLE Donation, adults suggested $15 minimum per person daily with kids under 6 free. 100% of the Proceeds from this event directly to support the birds and operate the facility.
Cash, Checks, MasterCard & Visa. Receipts available for your tax purposes, just ask!
All active and retired military with ID just $10 each.
Please note that all FFF staff members are unpaid volunteers. Everyone there does this because they love parrots, not profits. This is a registered 501c3 non-profit licensed animal shelter. Records are open and you can see what your donations accomplish.
If you want to bring treats for the parrots, please bring dehydrated fruits and veggies.
They love apples, banana chips and peppers. A staff member will assist you. Dried foods will store well and the birds can enjoy them all year.

There are limited Camping Sites (primative and RV) available by reservation thru website.
Easy to find! Be sure to GPS Byrd Drive: I-20 exit 183, south 5 miles to stoplight in Harlem. Left 1.4 miles to Old Augusta Hwy, turn left, go 1/4 mile to Byrd Drive, turn left then 1/4 mile to Feathered Friends. Park anywhere.
If you have special access needs (ie wheelchair) please go to the website and call ahead for a reserved spot. Only an hour and a half from Atlanta airport, 7 miles from I-20.
Feathered Friends Forever is open to the public every weekend from 11am to 5pm with admission by donation. See website FAQ for other information.

Please RSVP via the website so we have enough supplies!
Footwear:
Please wear sneakers or closed shoes. This is an outdoor facility so flipflops make your toes appetizing for ants, pinecones and whatever else mother nature provides!
Parents are responsible for your children!

At first I thought he was an African Grey....don't know what a Meyers is. I had a parrot once that was abandoned (when I worked at Animal Control) so I adopted him/her....he hated my exhusband and made so much racket...I was pregnant and thought how the hell will the baby ever get any sleep. SOOO I took him to Noah's Ark, the wildlife/exotic rescue place in Locust Grove, where he will stay forever. Those people do awesome stuff down there!

Stumpy has legs and his (or her, we're not sure yet) little "nubs" have developed almost like people feet. When he sits on my finger I can feel the muscles move to keep balance.
When you think about it, this is quite remarkable. Birds don't balance, they clamp on. He had to learn something complete foreign to his species! When he lands, he hovers like a little helicopter then parks. He has a football players neck from hoisting himself up everywhere by his beak.
Of course he over compensates as a companion bird, earning the nickname "Pesty Bird" which I'm teaching him to say. He also plays "Dead Bird" on his back and hanging by his tail feathers. Peek-a-boo is the next game he's learning. We have a c*ckatoo at the rescue who LOVES peek-a-boo.
Remember, if you chicken out or can't make the BBQ, try and send them something to help out. OR get a group together and make a day of it one weekend!
