Most memorable "front porch swing" moment.
I was....10?
Sitting on the porch swing with socks on (no shoes.... that was a no no)
My cousin, Shiela, (2 years my senior) "slapped" me and then ran.
I jumped up off the swing and started to chase her.
Did fine on the sand/painted porch..... gained some ground once we got inside and hit the carpeted living room floor.
She cut a hard left and so did I..... right into the "formal dining room"
Hardwood floors....and... of course, bowling ally waxed.
Didn't even have time to put my hands out
THWAPP!
On my nose.
3 weeks later.... had my 1st (of 3) rhinoplasty procedures.
(that's a nose job for y'all virginians )
Still love my cousin... still love those porch swings.
But it wasn't long afterwards my Granny replaced the swing with a glider.

Remember falling asleep  on the swing watching for Mom to come home on the bus from her waitress job downtown, when we lived with my Grandmother. The bus stop at under the street light I would see her silhouette as she walked home.
Back then …… even in Texas we didn’t have AC so that’s why there were so many people on the porches. After AC came about there was less and less time outside. Well and to only three TV channels.
Also use to sleep on a screened in back porch.

Front Porch Swing... yep, I got one. Enclosed the front porch a few years back though... so put it on the Back Deck... the grandkids love it!
My sister, in Carolina had a beautiful front porch and the first thing she bought for that ole house was a swing for that porch... it was waiting to happen. Loved the spring in Carolina on that swing.
