I have a '04 dakota that overheats after about 30 miles of highway drivin, ain't drove enough in the city for it to overheat. It just spits out all the coolant. Is there a problem in the radiator or is it the water pump? Its not the thermostat I took that out and it did the same.

It could be something as simple as a bad radiator cap. Have the cap checked or if it has been awhile since it has been replaced, replace it. This may not be it but start with the simple things first. Hope it works for you. It is not a good idea to run a vehicle without a thermostat. I would put it back in. A vehicle is designed to operate best at a certain temp and your economy and performance will be affected by this. If you are in the military, "thank you" for your service!!! If you got in touch with the motor pool I imagine those guys would be glad to help you.

There's pressure in the system so didn't think it could be the cap. I could be wrong tho.

The cap is calibrated, usually at 8 lb. If you have too little or too much pressure it will cause your situation. You can not go by just the system having pressure. I would suggest you get in touch with the motor pool. They will have a piece of equipment that they can test the cap with and they can advise you better on what is wrong because they have the actual vehicle to go by. If you do not want to go to the motor pool Autozone or a similar store will check the cap for you. Also if that vehicle has a V belt driving the water pump pulley make sure the tension is right on the belt and that it is not slipping.

Take the cap off cold. Top off the radiator. Start the engine. Look for bubbles, large bubble. If you see them, you have an intake issue or a head problem. The caps on newer vehicles are 12-16 lbs.
