Healthcare is a very broad category. But usually when someone works in healthcare, they spend most of thier time with sick people. So they don't get to meet a lot of people. Most of the women working in healthcare were single when they went into it.

Healthcare is usually shift work with little overtime. Please, all morons note the word 'usually'. I don't assume it would take any more time than any other job - why is that being assumed?
I worked many, many more hours as a salaried employee.

I was AWAY at my job from the 2nd to the 19th. I have the weekend sleepover shift in a group home.
People need healthcare around the clock and on holidays. Low pay requires other jobs.
But it's the same for men in those positions. The reason more women are on dating sites in that field is still because more women are in the field in the first place.

2. we make enough money we do not have to play the beg game, or games of
keeping your ego up
for a cookie
3. when we are off, we are so tired, and have to cram a whole lot of living
in those 3 days
4. burn out, we see death, disease, pain on a daily bases that is real
and listening to a man b*tch his cloths isn't washed.. make us say
shut the f**k up and leave
5. in those scrubs, we live in, and the food at hospital is snack food on the go
and we gain ridiculous unhealthy pounds, and after a 12 hour shift on your feet
the last thing you want to do, is hit the gym
6. can't think of any other right now.. too tired

there are two professions that hold true for a higher income for women
1. medical, nursing Rn, Lvn, even an aid
2. teacher
traditional roles, but changing every day...
male nurses are now around 4 for every 20 females
which is up by far
when it was told men should not be in that job
the medical field pay better then waitress or working at walmart
but only women with INTELLIGENCE, can scale the ladder in the medical field
the underclasses just to get IN nursing school can kick some peoples tail for male and
female, plus "THE" test you have to pass "after" you get in the program to learn how
to become a good nurse.
each level of entry has their own test
I met a young lady just the other day,
that had to take pharmaceutical test to pass
out medicine... she called her self a med tech
the medical field is not for the faint of heart
its WORK.. physically and for your brain..

It's simple.. They are limited on time and on-line is accessible at all hours.
Long hours with schedules that change, sometimes weekly.
Still have children at home.
The reason there are so many nurses out there is because for years they encouraged everyone that couldn't get into larger collages due to funds to get a grant and go to nursing school. I've got 2 different nursing schools/collages with in 3 miles of my place.
But let anyone try working 12 to 16 hr days then coming home to parent 5 to 6 days a week and see how much time you have to "commit" to seeking out days in the real world.
We can sit around with bloodshot eyes and hair all a mess in are underwear and put forth an effort though.

We are all independent women in my unit, earn good wage, we date alot, attend concerts together, go on trips--3 coworkers just got back from Japan. We must stay fit to keep up with pace in ICU. Some are single and in 20's, others are divorced and comfortable having fun w/o marriage. Also we have higher percentage of males in our unit.

i agree. most women i know in health care are lazy when they come home. ive dated a bunch of them, and granted, yes theyre tired when they get home. but then again, so am i. 12-14 hrs a day lugging 250lb curb forms around and finishing concrete in the hot sun will do that to you. even then, i made time for my hunny. i think that women in health care have tougher attitudes towards people in general. they ought to. its the most unappreciated job in the world. they get downgraded by doctors, treated like shit by patients and their families, have to clean up ungodly messes, all for dirt money. the long hours they have are unbelievable, leaving hardly any time for their mates. just sayin..

Hm. Interesting topic.
Well, for me at least, I am super duper busy. I have a very demanding job (like the big boyz!!! *flutterlashesflutter*) and not enough time for fun, so therefore, I guess I am single for that reason (or that I got divorced recently?!?) Anyway.....
I also want to weed out anyone that can't spell, construct a proper sentence, or lies -- and I think I can usually tell pretty quick!
So, in a nutshell: I don't want to waste my time, OR YOURS, if I think we won't match at all. I am a very decisive person, and almost never change my mind.... Practical? Yes. Mean? Probably. Sorry!

So, in one sweep you discredited my 20 years of hard work and accomplishment.
I am not in the medical field, and even though 2 years ago I was in papers for being in the top 3 list of the highest income women in my own state, my intelligence and hard work does not count since I am just an architect/development executive and not a nurse who passed the medical fields tests?
I was the 3rd woman in US and the 12th in the world to be doing what I'm doing in a field which is dominated and controlled by very capable men. I still made a name for myself and so are many other amazing women in various fields. I guess none of that counts in this model of the value for women.
Please be careful about the "Generalization" factor. The true worth and the level of intelligence of a man or woman is not in the kind of money they make, the type of test they have passed or even the schooling they have received.
It certainly does not make a better or worse partner or lover, either.
You are discrediting the rest of us who happen to not to be in your field.
That is not a fair assessment.

It's not a "generalization." And it's not an indictment of any other field of endeavor.

My guess is the hours they work put alot of Stress on their previous relationships...and new relationships might take a bit longer to develope. If you work in the Health Care field, you are exposed to alot of diseases, and maybe alot of Men are afraid to get too close for fear of catching something.

Unfortunately not the minority I used to be. When I started, I was a token and could do no wrong.
Now that there are several other men doing this job, they cut me no slack, and can be very nasty in their attitude toward me.
Oh well. My last job was instigating unions, which would get your windows shot out. These nasty women only irritate......never impress.

I've worked in healthcare many years now. I audit doctors, write their reappointments, OPPE's, FPPE's... a lot of research, programming, more research, reporting... Also preparing for Joint Commission visits, DHS, CDPH...
There are a few things I've learned over the years. Many doctors are players, many nurses are caretakers in their personal lives as well. Caretakers either as financially and/or health wise in regards to their spouse.
To work in healthcare, you have to be willing to deal with some of the most painful things in life. This includes child molestation, elder abuse, unanticipated mortalities, etc.

There are more women employed in healthcare fields than men.
There are more men employed in transportation/warehouse/construction than women.
