If you ended up being single for your entire life because you never found love would you feel like a failure?

No I would not feel like a failure. I am not a failure. I would continue living my life to the fullest. I am happy now, I am just not content with everything in my life. I still yearn to share it with someone special.

I have a lot of hobbies and projects to keep me busy so even the divorce didnt bring me down. Lately I have thought about the need to have someone steady in my life. Yes I would like that because it seems like something is missing, but it would have to be someone very special. I dont know about the rest of you, but going to bars to meet people is a bore. I think having a steady someone is good for planned events, even going to the movies is better as a pair.

Failure? Hell no. I love myself, my kids, my family, my friends, all of you...........I don't want to be alone but I choose to be alone until the best fit happens. Not expecting the perfect person just someone who can put up with me for the rest of my life.

I agree with the above three posters.............but I read something a new friend wrote and I said "Yup - that is so true"
It went something like "I'm not looking for the one I can't live without, I'm looking for the one I don't want to live without."

Missy, enjoy your freeedom and youth. You have plenty of time to find the right one. It's not a race, no matter what everyone around you is doing. JMO

I don't MIND being single, I mind being alone. There's a difference. Do I feel like I am a failure because I am alone? No. I'm a very successful alone person. But I don't think I ever intend to marry again - to me marrying wasn't any less lonely than I have been in the 12 years since the divorce.... in fact in some ways it was more so because he was right beside me in the bed.
Now I miss people who should be beside me in the bed and aren't.
?? makes sense to me??

Last time I checked, being single wasn't a life sentence and in my mind doesn’t equate to any sore of failure in life. In fact, any day now, I could meet Ms. Right. Instead of waiting for her to come along, I relish the fact that she has yet to arrive which leaves me to be the CEO of my wonderful life. I don't have to ask permission to stay out extra late with my friends or compromise on matters of finance, housing, travel, etc. I’m single and ready to mingle and that's just fine with me!
Want to know the most beautiful thing about being single? The endless possibilities that await you! The world is your proverbial oyster. Indulge!
