Maybe...I have always heard them called Blues or Blue-caps. But then again in school we weren't spreading them on crackers lol. Were they good?
I used to help supplement my scholarship fund with finding 'shrooms for people. I had a part-time job in the Mycology lab.

ok the caerlipes are not what i pick and those ovidios are not the ones i pick either although the ovidios look the closest to what i pick (cyanesences) neither of the two are what i pick
face book me
nick fetzer you can see my album with about 100 pics of ones i found still growing out of the ground in the pics... the cys dont get a triangular point on their caps after opening like the caerulipes
the cys also dont have a bellshape cap after growth much like how the ovideos are
google all three species and then check out my profile.... i pick cyanessences...
plain as day if you cant see the difference between the 3 including what i have picture on my fb then you clearly aren't researching what your talking about or have been told

i never had any from a cow field, the fact they grow on shit is enough to keep me in the woods.... black angus is what ive been told and like i said i stay outta the cow feilds but if you felt some psilocybin then thats what was in the mushroom you ate. there isn't any poison in them that will make you feel like you have some psilocybin. psilocybin is not a poison, its actually more safe than oxygen

Yeah...these pesky little college degrees aren't what they used to be I guess. I will write my university tomorrow.
Let me just say you really need to know what you are doing when you go picking mushrooms and popping them in your mouth. In the South there is really only one psilocbin and it grows on cow shit. There are, however, a couple of very poisonous species growing in leaf mold that look just like them, so I would advise you stay out of the woods.
But you go do what you want.

HP, the names are too similar to be anything different...
And yes, they were very good... But those were younger wilder times!
I remember being on a fraternity trip in the woods. Not sure what the circumstances were, but we were sitting on the side of hill. Wind was blowing too hard to light the bowl (just pot btw), but after striking the flint in the lighter several times, the colors were amazing!
Didn't seem to matter what you put them in you were gonna toss a bit at first, then an hour or so before they kicked in. I never much cared for the buzz until after the peak. Too much anxiety about being "stuck" that way forever before then. But on the downhill slide, the thought processes going a million miles an hour were something else... Somewhere I still have my diaries from college, and those segments were very odd.
BTW, best not to look in a mirror while shroomin'
As far as black angus, these are not happy little farm cattle. They are very aggressive. Had lots of farm land back over the hill from the house where I grew up. We stayed away when the angus were out and about...

i do know what im doing. ive been doing it for ten years now. i have even compared what ive picked with books that tell you exactly what to look for.
there is a county in northern georgia where they grow in the woods. i read about it the book "psilocybin mushrooms of the world" i just have to go to boarders and buy it again....
but the rule of thumb is that if they dont turn blue they aren't the ones for you.... now i know what your thinking and your saying thats not true. but other species that turn blue that are not psilocybes also have other colors that come out at the same time as the blue which is an idication of a poisonous mushroom.... im gonna have to get the name of this college you went to so i dont enroll in it

Cool...did he also make Amanitas and Galenas for us to consume??? By the way? Galenas look exactly like 'shrooms' and they grow in the woods here. They pack enough toxin to kill a whole family in one little cute brown cap. They will however fulfill your requirement of 'turning you blue'.

we all live in the North Georgia mountains that you've only read about.
We've been here for most of our lives and have a fairly good grasp on where things grow... what will kill you... where the weed grows best... etc.
So I think what Happy is saying is:
If you wish to ignore the natives advice, then have a good time and you're own your on. (And buy insurance.) Because we all know that if something is in print that there is no possibility it could be wrong.

Yes galerinas, sorry didn't notice I had misspelled it. Its important to remember mushrooms change their look when they go through the stages of their development, so what they look like in one photo might not be what they look like at another time when you find them.

i completely understand all of that.... im completely aware of what i pick. i dont understand how you can assume i dont know what im picking. all the kinds you suggested resemble a cyanesence in a very very small ways. the ones you suggested all have their own prominent characteristics about them that rule them selfs out from what i pick.... go to my face book page and look for yourself... youll say, wow he is picking cyanesences, but he cant be right about the area.... but what i do i know, because im younger and didnt take your college courses i am by default wrong.

Um...you are the one coming on here and asking us what grows down here where we live. You are an adult, if you want to go tramping through the woods picking fungus go right ahead, but down here you are going to get yourself killed. Which is also your choice.
My question is what is so wrong in your life you feel you need to devote such large quantities of it consuming 'shrooms? Don't get me wrong, I like a good buzz now and then, and lord knows with this illness I rely on a lot of medications to get through the day, but being stoned isn't the way I want to live.
The toxin in 'shrooms is not lethal, but it is still a toxin, and ingesting any toxic substance in large quantities over an extended amount of time is going to have an adverse effect. Its like pot: everyone says it isn't harmful and you can't OD...well...we all know 'that guy' who did it every day for years and now can't focus long enough to make a complete sentence and drools out of the corner of his mouth.
Not to mention the psychological damage - how can you have good relationships with others when you are strung out on the cousin of athlete's foot all day? Sugar, that isn't greater consciousness through drugs you are tapping into. Its just a fungus, and its going to wear off.
You seem to have some level of intelligence, why devote it to reading books on mushrooms that'll jack you up?

2. Its like pot: everyone says it isn't harmful and you can't OD...well...we all know 'that guy' who did it every day for years and now can't focus long enough to make a complete sentence and drools out of the corner of his mouth.
3. Not to mention the psychological damage - how can you have good relationships with others when you are strung out on the cousin of athlete's foot all day? Sugar, that isn't greater consciousness through drugs you are tapping into. Its just a fungus, and its going to wear off.
1. I don't think that something has to be *wrong* in someone's life for them to enjoy getting high or tripping on shrooms. Sure, in many cases it's used as an escape or masking issues but for many others, it's merely for pure enjoyment just as having a few glasses of wine or smoking a joint. That could be said for *many* of us on here! I'm not saying that I feel that way about all drugs because I don't. I'm just saying that I believe that statement is unfair.
2. You can't OD on pot and 'that guy' has other issues. Smoking pot isn't going to make someone have the inability to complete a sentence or drool out of the corner of his mouth after long term usage. If it's *real good* and I mean like some really killer shit, it might cause someone to not be able to complete a sentence (temporarily, while stoned out of their mind) but I've never *ever* seen it cause someone to drool. BTW, if anyone knows where to get weed *that* good, hit me up! Most everything negative about pot is a myth.
3. I don't know how much he trips on shrooms and maybe I missed something but just because someone partakes in a little trippage or smokes pot, does not make them have the inability to have meaningful relationships.
That being said, had my ex-husband smoked pot and wanted to trip on shrooms a few times a years instead of becoming a meth addict, things would be way different.

Ok, I read the whole thread. I've done shrooms a handful of times over the years, like no more than 5. I've eaten them followed by a chaser (nasty as hell), drank them in tea (still nasty as hell) and had them in chocolates (yum!). From what I know, they all came from cow shit.
It's been about 10 years since I last did any shrooms but damn, it was fun as hell! Did anyone see that show "Jail" where that guy was arrested and he was tripping on shrooms? He was laughing the whole time, having a good time in jail.

i agree it's all bad to some degree. ultimately, there are drug lords, people getting killed over deals gone wrong (even over pot), drug smuggling... all the way down to the people who are potheads who don't do anything but smoke 24/7 and buy a bag of weed before they pay their rent and those people whose lives are destroyed because of addiction.

NOOOOOOO! They aren't grown on cow shit!
Dee, I buy the whole portabella mushrooms, remove the stem and scrape out the gills (fan like things) before i cook them.
If I get them already sliced, I don't worry about it.
I love stuffed mushrooms as well. I'm addicted to mushrooms!

Did you also use them 'as often as possible' in 'large quantities', after digging them up in unfamiliar territory with only a book to guide you? If so, you are a braver woman than I.
Any drug, be it pot or psychedelics or whatever, is going to alter your brain chemistry if you use it often enough in large quantities.
Sorry...just trying to be the voice of reason here. Silly me.
