I also downhill ski and am an avid golfer and tennis player.....
I packback in the summer, mainly the Colorado Rockies where I go flyfishing.
Nothing like the fresh air and a good hike......to watch nature at it's finest!

I hiked in the Sierra Nevadas and Olympic National Park in the 90's with my son on Sierra Club service trips. That experience led me to make hiking the entire Appalachian Trail as a lifetime athletic goal. I gave it up in '04 after accomplishing another of those goals, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. Going up, actually summiting, was difficult, but the whole climb was very enjoyable. Coming down was quite painful with knee pain.
I trailrun in Brooker Creek Preserve on Sundays. I count it a good run if I see 1 or more deer.

Funny you should mention Brooker Creek Preserve since it is in my backyard and go there quite often. Was that you Ted running nude on the trail? I just caught the "back" of you so I couldn't tell..........

Vix-I mentioned Brooker Creek hoping to generate some local interest in me. I knew we had some differences (dogs and golf) and some similarities, but just expanded my reading to your "Dating sites do work" and I think I've lost your scent.
I run in the Great Outdoors of Brooker Creek Preserve Sunday at 7:30am with shorts and no shirt if it's warmer than 55. About 8 years ago in the Dare to Go Bare 5K at Paradise Lakes, I ran with shorts while 60% of the boys and girls wore only shoes. It was more from fear of not being able to control genital excitement than being modest. I ran in Cheval this morning and saw 5 deer crossing the road. Sometimes the Great Outdoors is in a neighborhood
If you live in or near a city, one of the best things about (overnight) hiking is the stars at night.
