Animism sounds like a reflection of the positivism paradigm. Stormbay is, by his profile, a vegetarian--an outgrowth in the belief system of animism, is that correct. Stormbay--do you also believe in the assumption of determinism--that phenomena are not haphazard or random events but rather have antecedents and consequences--reality exists and there is a real world driven by real natural causes. If so, how do you perceive the outcomes of interaction in online chats as a product of this belief system? I am new to the concept of animism--am I on the right path to understanding?
Dstar my form of vegetarianism is not an outgrowth of animism, as most animists are meat eaters, but they do respect life millions of times more than theists. Being a true vegetarian is about health, responsibly and caring for the life and future of this planet including your own. Its about bringing your metabolic and vibrational rates in harmony with nature as best you can, so you can appreciate life and all it contains, rather than control and abuse it as ideologists do. The universe revolves around controlled chaos, things are only determined by their actions and outcomes, natural causes, are the results of randomly controlled causes, or logic.
I don't see the outcomes of on line chats as anything but chats, they have no bearing on anything other than on inept controlled minds and that's confusion. As a monotheist, the only path you are on is to nowhere but round in circles and that's not understanding, but denial. Ideologies don't discuss, they demand to make delusional statements be accepted as fact. An animist lives within the bounds of nature and does not wish to control and destroy it as do theists, they see spiritual life as represented in the natural world in many forms and see natural disasters as the natural spirits being unhappy with their approach to life. Misguided as it is, it is a much more caring and understanding approach to natural harmony and balance, something you never see within the bonds of theism. I don't have any ideology, but am just an observer of it and the constant negative effects.
Queen being cranky is a form of confusion and frustration, we all suffer from that as humans at times. But I don't know of a true vegetarian who is cranky, you only find that in those who constantly and gluttonously indulge in the toxin filled meats of enslaved and tortured animals who live and die in fear for the gluttony of humanity. Animists never suffered from the ailments currently afflicting ideological humans, they used caring balance, not enslaving greed.

Stormbay: Thank you for giving me such good feedback--the topic is fascinating--having a doctorate in philosophy, I truly have not studied this concept and find it fascinating. DrStar

It is an interesting subject, my knowledge lies mainly in cultural anthropology. The Dream time of Australian aboriginals is very fascinating and give a very balanced view of animism and how it's applied, plus the reasoning they use to justify it. Its about caring for the planet first and then themselves, something theists could learn some sanity from.

Let us hope that 'caring for the planet before ourselves' is a conept that will spread like an epidemic throughout mankind for without it neither the planet or those upon it will survive--Thanks for your reflection on this topic. DrStar

I think it is so pessimistic to think that there are not great minds, as have always been, working on solutions to any problems that come along.
I don't know where anyone else is coming from but I remember going to CA in the late sixties and having to turn back from Los Angeles because the smog was soo bad our eyes burned. 20 years later, when I started driving a truck, I went there every week and never had a problem that bad. Not even in the Summer with no rain to clean the air.
I sure am happier I have a more positive attitude with 23 known direct descendants right now. Otherwise I might be one of those crazy people that decides it would be better to put them to sleep now, permanently.

I would like to recommend a book, or a series of novels, that presents the case for Animism:
Ishmael
The Story of B
My Ishmael
The middle one is the novel which states the case for Animism most eloquently. There is the most to be gleened from reading them in order. . .
Bright Blessings,
Michael
