I have seen a few episodes in previous seasons. I am just waiting for it all to be on DVD so I can just rent it and watch. I hate commercials. I haven't seen any of it this season.

I'm a LOST fan. Just don't want to spoil it for anyone that might not have seen up to this point. Personally, now that I've got access to DSL, I've become a big fan of watching on www.abc.com One comercial per break rather than like 11. I think that was what it averaged when I was watching Grey's Anatomy last year. Flipping ridiculous. Thank god I keep a crossword puzzle close at hand. Who's your favorite male/female character staz?

I've been a big "Lost" fan from the beginning. Nothing short of a fire can get me out of the house on Thursday nights. Just when I thought the show had finally run it's course, it returned this season better than ever. But, I can't help but wonder how the writer's strike will effect Lost. Will the producers run out of new episodes soon, and be forced to re-run the new episodes we've just seen over and over like they had to do in some previous seasons?
To the guy who said Lost should be on DVD, you need to look better, because I'm sure I've seen the old Lost episodes on DVD at my local video store. Unfortunately the Lost DVDs are not available on high def disks yet. And, to the guy who watches it on a computer screen to minimize the commercials, I say "big mistake"! Lost has spectacular scenery in crystal clear high definition which can only be appreciated on a big widescreen digital TV, not to mention the best 5.1 surround sound of any show on TV. You can't get the full high def Lost experience over the Internet, at least not yet. As for avoiding the commericals, I just get off my ass and workout during the commercials. It's a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Out of curiosity, I just went to the abc.com web site and it does say "Lost" is available in streaming HD. Maybe I have to eat my words-- and maybe not. ABC didn't provide specs for their streaming HD, so they may be playing around with the definition of HD. Moreover, I'm skeptical that high speed Internet cable service available to most homes has enough bandwidth to support the high definition television standard used for over the air HD broadcasting. Much less DSL, which usually has less bandwidth than cable Internet service. Unfortunately, I can't judge for myself, because my Internet service does not have enough bandwidth for continuous real-time SDTV, much less HDTV.
In addition, a person would have to hook a computer directly to a big screen HD TV with an HDMI cable to get the full effect and display all the detail available in a true high definition television picture. It's doubtful to me that many people have a system like that these days. The future of HDTV is undoubtedly in Internet delivery and computer/TV synthesis, I just don't believe we are there yet.

Yes, Lost is on DVD....I am just waiting so I can get it all at one time and have a couple week long marathon.
Streaming HD is one thing but having a computer that can actually process it and have an HDMI output for your TV is another. Downloadable HD is possible but you still need a pretty powerful machine for playback.'
And lastly, some good DVD players can upconvert to what is very close to HD, and a good amp will easily process out the sound to Dolby prologic 5.1 or 7.1 or even DTS and THX. I am actully hoping they will put it onto Bluray.

I guess it does not really matter how you watch it. The scenery is nice but I thin it's real sell for me is the story. The mystery behind it. I like the conflict between Locke and Dr. Jack. Locke representing faith and Jack representing science. Who do you think is right?

Yes I'm a "Lost" fan. The flash forward? I think it's a good idea. Keep's it fresh. How long could they explore their past's? Keep's me wondering why only SIX got off. I guess we have another 2 seasons worth before it's over.

Oh boy. If im out Wednesdays i do have someone at work who "tapes" it for me. We discuss it extensively at work Thursday. It such a pain when someone misses it. We have to whisper
I rented last season and watched for the two week previous to the new season. So many small details i was afraid i would forget. Loved watching it with no commercials.
Science and Faith. I have a feeling Locke is going to "win" Who are the Oceanic 6. Kate, Jack, Hurley....
Not only is the scenery good but the writing is well done too. Ive never been disappointed and somehow they keep track of the story line. How did Lockes father get to that island? Was Walt a spirit? Who is the guy in the "camp"?
They answer some questions and then create more

Spoiler alert if you have not seen last weeks show. The oceanic six so far are Jack, Hurley, Kate, and Sayed (being all the gigalo). Ben showed up in fast forward but he may not count as one of the six. My question is. Who was in the coffin at the wake that Jack visited in the last episode last season?

Sorry I got off topic and nerded you out Staz007, but I love the outstanding visual quality of Lost as much as the story. Thus, my digression into the technical aspects of HDTV verses streaming web and DVD viewing. Regarding the question you posed about who is in the coffin, we do know a few things which can be used to make an educated guess:
1) The dead person has to be someone the audience already knows; otherwise, Jack's visit to the coffin is irrelevant to the viewers.
2) The person in the coffin is dead in the flash forward. Assuming the flash forwards are all to the same time period, then it's not likely to be one of the Oceanic 6. (I know, assumptions are often flawed)
3) Jack said the person is not related to him, which leaves out the obvious... the father and doctor who Jack has issues with.
4) Jack said the person was not a friend, which could make it Ben. But, you said Ben appears in a flash forward, so if assumption #2 is correct then it's probably not Ben.
5) Jack said it was someone who had a profound effect on his life, which could make it Lock. After all, Jack and Lock represent the opposite philosophies of science and faith, and Lock's views may have gradually influenced Jack. One could argue that Jack and Lock were friends, so Lock would be disqualified by assumption #4. But, Lock and Jack were ultimately divided by different agendas with regard to leaving the island and that struggle could have ended the friendship.
Based on the above reasoning, I think it may be Lock in the coffin. But, the biggest mystery of all is not who is in the coffin--- it's how Katie5579 is able to watch (or have someone tape) Lost on Wednesday night and then discuss it at work on Thursday.

I let the taping error go. She probubly just got her days confused.
Another clue about the coffin may be Kate's reaction towards Jack thinking she would be there. She says "why would I go to the funeral." So we know it is sombody they both have a problem with. Also, nobody showed for the viewing so it's sombody without friends like Locke who was a loner before the island. But we might just be led that way so the writers can hit us with a shocker. Who knows?
