i am just a boy, in a big place,
so take me by my hand
and kiss me on the face
the world is full of complications
to much for little boys
all we want is to have some fun playin with our toys
curiosity and courage
drive us through the day
and when i become a man i dont want it any other way
i am just a young man
in a big place
walk beside me slowly, our life is not a race
there are many problems in the world
ill solve them if i can
i pray my boy stays with me as i become a man
im just a man
in a big place
ill take you by your little hand
and kiss you on your face
the world is full of men like me
just little boys at heart
i know the little boy in me
wont leave when i depart
i am just a memory
in a world no longer mine
filled with thoughts of yesterday
and dreams of another time
dont know where im goin
do know where ive been
wherever i am headed
my boy will come again
we are all just little boys and girls
yes even you and me
so lets take each other by the hand
as we fade to memory

as i think about the past
a tear falls from my eye
so many oppurtunities slowly passin by
secret fears lie hidden deep
hidden desires imagined in dreams
i dont know what it is yet
that makes men who they are
i havent figured out what pushes us so far
i see much corruption and manipulations
dont know to keep my patience
pain breeds inside me
battling to come out
a war between my heart and strength
is tearing me apart

look at your hands in your dreams tonight
see the energy flowing through life
another perspective, another world
shining diamonds in a see of pearls
push to the cliffs
push to the butterflies
are we the rebels
or are we the wise
they make the rules
they make the laws
but we stand together
with only one cause
we dont want to change the past
we want our memories to last
we fight to the death in the present
brutalized with stereotypes and resentment
but the end brings our journey together
changing the future is not that far
together, our power, we will win
so our children can be who they are.

puppet master controlling things
rulin your world anarchy brings
chaos and confusion to our minds
vengeful emotions of varied kinds
our life, our will, the strings confine
painted porcelain faces
rains falls from the eyes
like everyone one of us
when our vision dies
controlled by someone elses hand
riding through thier will
unsaddled by the treachorous land
our freedom is their wish to kill
wolves howling through the night
mayans dreaming thoughts of light
tales of the world instill fright
dark shadows of time turn white
but breeding hope inside us brings
the power to tear free our strings

In terms of advice I would have to say be aware of as much as you can, write often, and read a whole shitload. You definitely have talent that is worth developing. I try to write something everyday (even if it is crap and I end up tossing it). keep at it

I agree. get a micro casett for those ideas that just pop into your head when you cant stop to write them down. i used to write a shit load years ago and just stoped. just yesterday i bought a tablet,the ideas just started again.you have talent no doubt just keep doing it like anything else you will get better!

I jot and write into a notebook I carry with me all the time. Sometimes it IS just crap, but then there are those lines that stick...and work, maybe not in that piece but in another.
Read peotry, each ine can be interpeted more than one way. Try to be a real as possible, read your work out loud to yourselfseveral times. Change it if if feels wrong. Use spellcheck and and other check you can get!
Poetry is about creating a "story" or lesson into a short work that has a form of some sort...so it is difficult to get the entire thought over in a limited format, unlike a story you cannot ramble.
Never stop writing if this is your love. Just go for it and practice a lot.
Don't be afraid to take writing courses if you can...
Never stop doing what you love, but always try to improve everything you do!

hey...i know im a youngin as well..but i do have a few words of advice if ur willing to entertain my drivel for even a moment. lol. i think that you are doing quite well and frankly i am impressed! but the one bit of advice i can pass on from one of my greatest influences in songwriting, poetry, as well as life. IS...take your time. i dunno..just thought id share it! anyway, have a wonderful day!
