OK, I can't help it. I have to rant a little bit. When I read the personals on the site I notice a couple of common themes, and can't help but get a chuckle...I know this is going to piss some of you off that bother to read this, but it's all in good fun...it will probably get taken down in short order. I'm sorry up front if it does. I would really boil all these down to the "Master of the Obvious" variety. Common themes that I see in profiles (not that mine's any better) like:
1) 'Want someone who is Disease and Drug free' - Really? That's cool, cause I have come across a lot of people in life that are out looking for that special disease infested (preferably communicable type) junkie. I guess what they mean is, they think drugs are bad....ok, why not just go with that instead of making it sound like you think you are a stand out cause diseased junkies don't fit your lifestyle?
2) 'I want to find someone who cares about me for me' - This one takes on several different forms, but what it boils down to is the same. Once again, there are about 5.8 billion people on the planet, and we all want to be appreciated, cared about, and feel that we are accepted without having to be a sociopath. This one could probably just be left off all together. The hard part for anyone is finding people that you can mutually tolerate long enough to start caring about each other.
3) 'Must be stable' - Now come on! Do you really want someone who isn't on the frayed edges of sanity? Spontaneity is much more fun when it is mixed with a little bit of uncertainty driven by mental frailty. You realize that it is all subjective, and that no one thinks they are unstable, unless you are in rehab with Brittany. It's relative right, a gypsy thinks that a migrant worker is way too settled. Think about it.
4) 'I'm not judgmental...and don't like those who are...must have a picture posted' - This one has so many low hanging fruits to grab it's hard to narrow down.
5) 'I'm tired of...sick of games...aren't there any good (insert gender) left out there' - We should all find this one a little insulting, it co notates that the majority of everyone is simply put a 'bad' person. And that's just ridiculous, while the bizarro freak show of the world continues as it always has, most of us are genuine, good, caring people. I really want to be around someone who has such a dismal outlook on the masses that they are just waiting to figure out why you are just like the rest of them so they can add you to the list of blame for all things wrong.
There are a lot more of them but you get the point. Of course, anyone reading mine would say that I'm a scumbag for being a married guy with a personals posting. Ok. I guess the point of my little rant is that 99% of us want the same things; it's the details that are the killer...
Oh yea, almost forgot to shout out to the people who want a highly educated, high earning person in their life but have a profile with pitiful grammar and spelling.
