Our counterparts' group has been removed!! I'm not sure if that's a good thing (because people are finally giving up old ways of thinking) or a bad thing (because the conservatives have essentially taken over the Current Events/Politics area of the main forrum and thus see no reason to maintain their own group... ) hmmm.. Maybe I'll do a poll.

No, yankee, as a matter of fact, I didn't know. I haven't wandered over there in a while.

Wonder what it means. They have invaded Current Events, that is for sure, but I have been spending some time there and have been throwing in my different perspectives to keep it interesting and to try to keep some of them honest.

For those "conservative Republicans" there who still think for themselves, they can be civil and fun to engage.

Those who gave up thinking a long time ago and handed over their brains to the neo cons in 2000 are rabid and not nice, to put it plainly.

Oh well. Every dog needs a home. I guess theirs is now Current Events. But I for one will not let them own it and bar the door.

Peace, Pam

I had been meaning to ask you guys what you thought about the other group being gone. But, I'll bet you are right, they do seem to have taken over Current Events.

I love to read your posts, Pam!!! I chuckle when they tell you that you are misinformed, to put it politely! You poor thing, if you would just listen to them more carefully you might actually see the truth!!!! Ha! You know I have high blood pressure and I just can't stay there too long and listen to all that hateful, fearful stuff. But, if you ever need backup, you know where to find me! If I get worked up enough, I can really let go, I've done it before and I can do it again!!!!

The Current Events forums do get depressing. But I think it does help when Pam and others challenge the kooks. Sometimes I really can't even imagine what to say though. There's a thread now on whether Obama is the antichrist as described in the Left Behind series, and the consensus view seems to be that he's probably not the antichrist but you can't vote for somebody with a name like that.

Those kind of opinions don't really give you much to work with.

It's hard to find a thoughtful conservative these days. It seems that most of them now are of the know-nothing variety.

LOL, terentius!

I do admire your dogged determination to interject intelligent material with which to debate, discuss, or disagree with them. But the red herrings and total nonsense that passes for "information" over there is amazing.

Sometimes reading their rabid hatred, their vehement vitriol, or the stunning stupidity makes me angry; sometimes I'm sad; sometimes I'm depressed. These are Americans?????

Gives new meaning to the description "ugly American," doesn't it?

I tell myself they are a minority. And I believe they are, thank God! But its little comfort.

Hang in there my friend. Stay strong to fight the good fight!

And yankee, jeannie and others, dive in. I'll defend you. We soooo need some conter-balance there. They cannot own current events, for goodness sake! We have somethings to say about those events, don't we?!

Peace, Pam

the neocons.. republicans watch fox news.. so of course they are delusional. As these people continue to destroy the middle class.. they cannot possibly win elections without either religious zealots, or dibold. The greatest enemy of the republican party is an educated and informed voter. (unless of course that education is by fox "news")

Current events is frightening. Rants and raves, a bunch of right winger and christians. Maybe we should
all start posting over there to get some sanity and rational discussion going!!

I tried posting there - and still occasionally try when an idea or thought moves me, but the posts there make me crazy, sad, angry and scared - all at once. They are some scary ill-informed, often uneducated people. Some of the ugliest Americans I have ever seen.

Bigots, racists, misogynists, xenophobes, religious fanatics...mean people!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe more of us need to rain on their sick parades.

Just a thought!

Peace, Pam

Let's do it, they had such a rant on Planned Parenthood, for crying out loud!
What ARE the current events other than the US election and US economy? I would like to choose
a more international topic.

Oh I just cant stand thous crazy right wing nuts, they get me so mad, they think because they can spit out Bible verses that they are better then everybody else, and worst part is they get a lot of it wrong, I think people should be able to believe what ever they wont, I don't care if you believe in fairies, or elves, as long as you don't try and push it on others, or hurt people because of your believes, you all realize that every country that we supposed to be helping, in say the last hundred years, we have turn most of them in to Christians, and one's we haven't are ones we have fights with, first it was Russia, and Japan, now the Middle East, or at least the Muslims, and this is because of the Republicans mostly, because there put into office by the Christian coalition, which are basically the Nazis of our time, just look at what the Nazis did in Germany, first they went after the gays, then scientists, and then the Jews, now I don't believe they will hurt the Jews because they are pushing for support of Israel, which there's nothing wrong with them ( the Israelis that is) but what will they decide to attack if they get there way with the gay issues I mean they are already against science, they don't even wont our kids to be taught it in school, whats next, lets face it the days of the moderate republican went out with Reagan, now we have fanatics, who wont to take our rights away from us, if we keep letting them win on everything, America will be dead, or at-least what it stood for will be, Freedom, I know a lot of my fellow caucasian Democrats are going to vote for McCain just because he's white and Obama is black, which is so stupid, and sickening, it makes me ashamed to be white, the only way we can be what we are supposed to be (a Free country) is if we get pass the hate, and bigotry, I believe that Obama could bring this country together for one's in its entire history, because this country has never been a truly free country, but it could start to become free for all with Obama as our president, and he can also heal the wounds caused by not only Bush but many others in our government, given to our allies and maybe make some of our enemy's our friends, now I know he isn't some superhero, but he is someone with a new way of doing things, so just think about what I said here, I know I went a little off topic, but I had a lot to get off my chest, and I'm new here, so forgive me.

I just wish they would go away, not only from this discussion forum, but in general. They are a cancer.

Please check out the video clip I posted yesterday. It plays into this discussion in a BIG way.

I just finished talking to someone that told me he would never vote for a black, Muslim, atheist that removed the American flag from his plane. He told me that he wasn't a god fearing man. Then it came to me! I didn't know we were supposed to fear god. Besides I know that I'm god. The reason I know this is because anytime I've ever prayed I found out I was talking to myself.
If anyone out there wants a link for a free Obama Button let me know.

It's scary to think that the neo cons and the social conseratives could again sway this election with thier narrow minded views! I just hope the young people out there will vote this time! This is the most important election of my 50 years!

The Republican's absence here is likely based upon the fact that our counterparts are no longer quote what their party literature says but spam e-mails that come from the self-interested, creative mudslingers instead. They are just "righties" hiding behind an "elephant". I can't wait for the presidential debates to begin and real substantial issues come into play.

Now the Republicans and the other idiots who post in Current Events have an angry old man and a vacuous "cute girl" to get behind!

The people who support this team will vote against their own best interests. And they'll believe anything they are told as long as an American flag is waved while the idiot says it! And they MUST be wearing a flag pin to demonstrate the American-ness.

Idiots!
